"This book would be good for girls who don't mind a little gory parts in it. It's about this 17 year old girl named Teagan, and a cousin she never knew about comes to live with her. This cousin named Finn Mac Cumhail and has just turned Teagan's life upside down. Teagan finds out a lot of things she didn't know about her family heritage, and where her mother was from. But a bunch of nasty goblins are coming to take Teagan and her little brother Aiden to the dark man. It's takes Teagan, Finn, and Aiden a lot of courage to go through with some things, but will they succeed in escaping the clutches of the dark man? Well you'll just have to read the book to find out! :P"

" I liked this book better at the beginning, when things were still unexplained and mysterious. Somehow it became less interesting as the back story was filled in. A fine book, but I'm not interested in reading the sequels. "
— Kris, 2/12/2014" Teagan has plans -- college for vet med -- and she doesn't have time for love or a boyfriend. However, Finn arrives and lots of plans change. Turns out he is this generation's legendary hero whose job is to battle goblins. He brings Tea's family to the attention of the goblins which results in her mother's death and the kidnapping of her father. Tea needs Finn to help her go to faerie to get her father back. Along the way she learns a lot about herself and about the nature of reality. Very entertaining book. "
— Kathy, 1/9/2014" 3.5 stars - definitely got better in the 2nd half. There are a few swear words and some violence, so it's probably best for older teens. I'm putting the next in the series on my list! "
— Robynne, 1/5/2014" It was cool, but not great. I'm groing out of YA, but sometimes still can find things I fancy. "
— Regina, 12/31/2013" Loved this one! Clean, sweet romance, and lots of scary goblins. Seriously, some of the descriptions creeped me out - the author is definitely a talented writer and created a freaky but believable world. I loved the Irish/Celtic lore, too. Recommended read. "
— Lindsey, 12/15/2013" Four star start, five star climax, three star ending. Characters are a little humdrum, but mythology is good, and definitely lets things comes together in climax. Got "that feeling". "
— Toby, 11/17/2013" This was a lot of fun to read. I look forward to the next book in the series. "

— Mark, 12/14/2012" Great start to a promising new YA fantasy. "
— Vicki, 10/11/2012" The writing was very good, but I found myself stumbling over names and occasionally lost in the plot (I probably let too much time elapse between reads though...) Also, if you dislike monkeys as much as I do, you might not be drawn into the book right away. Just saying... "

— Amanda, 7/12/2011" Didn't think that she did the best job of explaining the mythology, and I was confused at times, but the story was pretty good. "
— Kristie, 5/15/2011" I loved this book. When I picked it up I wasn't expecting much (in fact I only even considered it because the main character shares my dog's name). I was pleasantly surprised, and I can't wait for the next book! "
— Meagan, 5/13/2011" This was an marvelous book. It asks the questions that need to be asked. Who are we and what do we stand for and stand up to? I enjoyed the adventure in the parallel world. The like I will remember is Being a Goblin is a choice. "
— Susan, 4/26/2011" Good book, some swearing though. Could have done without it, but still good. "
— Levi, 4/11/2011" This was really good - I can't wait for our library to get the second book! "
— Tami, 4/5/2011" Loved this one! Clean, sweet romance, and lots of scary goblins. Seriously, some of the descriptions creeped me out - the author is definitely a talented writer and created a freaky but believable world. I loved the Irish/Celtic lore, too. Recommended read. "
— Lindsey, 3/18/2011" This was a great book! I liked the Irish lore in present day story line. The twists and turns the plot took all worked in my reader-scope. I will surely be reading the next book! "
