    " I bought this book for the children's section at Books at a Steal and decided to read it before putting it on the shelf. You do not have to read the first book to enjoy this tail of a young girl and her dog, Tuck. This is a great story for upper elementary and middle school children in particular. "

About the Author

Theodore Taylor (1921-2006) was born in North Carolina and authored more than fifty books for children and adults. His novel The Weirdo won the Edgar Allen Poe Award for Best Young Adult Mystery in 1992. He is best known for The Cay, which is considered a classic of young adult literature and is required reading in many schools across the US and internationally. The Cay won eleven literary awards, including the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award, and was made into a television movie starring James Earl Jones in 1974.

About the Narrator

Christina Moore is an actress and Earphones Award–winning audiobook narrator. As an actress, she is best known for her roles in the television series That ’70s Show, Hawthorne, and 90210. She is a founding member of Bitches Funny, an all-female sketch group that has performed in New York City and Los Angeles.
