" Treasure Island is undoubtedly great, for its originality, master storytelling and incredibly fascinating adventures which make you bite your nails till the whole thing is over. Of course, if you really love to read about sea adventures, bloodthirsty pirates and quest for treasure, simply, you have to read this; and I must say that I was not the least sorry for reserving my time for this masterpiece, page turner, or anything you could call it. I usually condemn telling somebody the plot or what happens in a story in advance before he/she reads it. Being told, I hate equally, since it just damages the astonishment and the suspense a reader should get from the book. So I will just say, "There should not be an avid reader of adventure who has never read Treasure Island. Read it. You'll love it. "

" I read most of this to my son (he wanted to watch the movie and we have a rule in our house that you have to read the book before the movie). It's still on the Grade 8 reading list for school, although my son got lost in all the ship language and pirate talk. I'm sure Treasure Island paved the way for all the "talk like a pirate" movements. With a lot of "Huzzah!" and "Avast!" uttered from his lips, Long John Silver still remains one of the most fascinating and larger-than-life characters in fiction. And yes, after a fresh reading, like a child I still want to run out to my backyard, strike the Jolly Roger, and start digging in the gardens for treasures un-told. "
