In Sawgamet, a north woods boomtown gone bust, the cold of winter breaks the glass of the schoolhouse thermometer, and the dangers of working in the cuts are overshadowed by the mysteries and magic lurking in the woods. Stephen, a pastor, is at home on the eve of his mother's funeral, thirty years after the mythic summer his grandfather returned to the town in search of his beloved but long-dead wife. And like his grandfather, Stephen is forced to confront the losses of his past. Touch introduces you to a world where monsters and witches oppose singing dogs and golden caribou, where the living and the dead part and meet again in the crippling beauty of winter and the surreal haze of summer. "*4.5* stars. This was a great debut book! I loved it! Romance, suspense, action, it had it all. I loved the two main characters "Dez" (loved her snarky attitude & humor) & "Kale" (he's just a wonderful character-too many things to list). I'm so looking forward to the next book in the series!"

" It was interesting. A new world filled with new special abilities with people, and institutions in which they are detained. It is impossible to escape ,but Kyle manages. After he meets Deznee, the girls life life irrevocably changed. A lot of action, intrigue, love. "
— Beatrix, 2/9/2014" I really couldn't get into this book at all. There was no plot development, just run here, fight (and the action was pretty unbelievable too), touch each other, run there, fight some more and kiss some more. They'd get a contact's name from someone, find them, get another name just before that person was killed, then run somewhere else. And in between all of these fighting and dying scenes, they'd "touch" each other and make out. I'm not opposed to romance, in fact I really like it, but c'mon I need a real story for it to fit into. There was no character development either. I didn't like Dez much from the very beginning, so it was hard to root for her. And as the story progressed I never warmed up to her. In all fairness, I only read about half of the book and then I gave up. If I had finished it I might have found some redeeming qualities. "
— Pollyanna, 2/6/2014" I'm not even close to being done this book and I fear the last chapter! I absolutely love these characters! who doesn't love a kick ass leading lady and a very hot but yet deadly side kick as Kale? From what I've read so far I know I'll be adding this series to my top 10 list of favorites! "
— â‹, 12/20/2013" It was a good book, but it's for a younger audience. As I was reading it, I kept thinking if I were a bit younger I would have loved it. As it is, it has an interesting plot, the obligatory hot guy, and a female protagonist that doesn't suck. I'd reccomend it to anyone ages 10-16 "
— Serenity, 11/28/2013" I didn't know what to expect ! The story started with a bang and i didn't mind at all, also the story itself was interesting . I mean the hero of the story wanted to kill the heroine with in the first chapter. All the twists and turns are making me anxious for the next book, "
— Sana, 11/20/2013" All I'm going to say is..........When's the next one coming? I can't wait, when is it going to be here? Can I get a copy early? I want it, I want it, gimme gimme gimme gimme!!!! "
— Dani, 10/10/2013" An amazing book. Didn't want it to end. "
— Denna, 5/9/2012" Amazing read, I was hooked from beginning to end, I was left wanting more. I was surprised when an Australia character was thrown in there. "
— JusMe, 10/29/2011" Great action, characters and I liked the concept of the book. I would have given it more stars but it went to far in the bedroom for a young adult book. (yes, I know most people will disagree with me.) "
— Susa, 8/4/2011" So many cold deaths. If read magical realism stories in Spanish. It was interesting to read one in English. "
— Paula, 6/30/2011" Better than I originally expected. Loved the mythical aspects. "
— Megan, 6/5/2011" very thoughtful and interesting book. spiritual.
"
— Kristin, 6/4/2011" I wanted to like this book more than I did. It seemed dis-jointed and awkward and even though it was under 300 pages, it felt like forever.
That said....I'm not done with this author and look forward to what is to come. "
— Mia, 5/28/2011" I just finished reading this book. Even though it was a captivating story, at the end I just looked up and said "Huh?" It was very disjointed, and I never understood the point of the book. Did the grandfather have a nervous breakdown or was it a ghost story/old wives tales? "
— Karen, 5/28/2011" This is a magical read. It is filled with humor one moment and leaves you frightened the next. Touch mixes fairytale with reality , love with heartache. It pulls you in making you wish it was a real place and time. "
— Teri, 5/17/2011" This was the sappiest zombie book I have ever read. "
— Angie, 5/13/2011" I'm really not sure what to make of this book. It's a look into multi-generations of a Canadian family in the 1800s/early 1900s. It deals with love, life, death, the human spirit and even ghosts. Yes ghosts. "
