ONE MURDER.

Piet Hoffmann is the Swedish police force's best undercover operative. Not even his family know of his double identity. Yet when a drug deal with the Polish mafia goes fatally wrong, his secret life begins to crumble around him.

TWO MEN.

Detective Inspector Ewert Grens is charged with investigating the drug-related killing. Unaware of Hoffmann's true identity, he believes himself to be on the trail of a dangerous psychopath.

THREE SECONDS.

Hoffmann must desperately maintain his cover; else he is a dead man walking. But, in the doggedly-perceptive Ewert Grens, he has just made the most relentless of enemies.

"This is a good read that moves along pretty quickly and has a really interesting resolution. It won the best Swedish crime novel award and I appreciate that. However, I'm finding that all the hubbub around Swedish novels (since the "Girl" trilogy became so famous) is beginning to make them all read similarly. I almost felt as if some of these characters had been in other Swedish crime novels interchangeably. That said, it was interesting and the main character is well crafted. Piet Hoffman is a secret operative who must make the ultimate choice risking his life to satisfy his handlers. I recommend the read."

" The subject matter is highly interesting, captivating read in the style of short, get to the point plots of much modern crime writing. Vey violent hostage situations at times. Makes me wonder how the "system" actually works and how the real-life decision making process in fact takes place, and what is in it for these people, anew. "

" Powerful!! Gritty and at times dark, this was a page turner I couldn't put down no matter how sleepy I was. So many twists and turns. Just when you thought you knew what was going to happen, the story takes a sudden turn you never saw coming. Lot of depth to this book! "

" Outstanding Swedish crime novel, fans of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" series should particularly enjoy it. Engrossing look at the interwoven worlds of crime, law enforcement, and government bureaucracy. Well-developed characters that are believable and interesting, and the plot becomes increasingly gripping. Highly recommended. Another bargain from the shelves at Dollar Tree! "
