"Wow! This is one the best books I’ve read this year! Tahereh Mafi has cleverly crafted an immersive story inspired by Persian mythology. A riveting tale of clashing empires, forbidden romance and a forgotten queen destined to save her people. This is an endearing story about a young Jinn woman forced to live a secret life of destitute (despite being being the last heir of a lost nation). Alizeh struggles to survive day to day, living as a servant, hiding her true identity from her enemies and the devil himself. Meanwhile, Kamran, the crown Prince of Ardunia, is tasked with eliminating Alizeh, as she is the ice-blood prophesied to bring about the death of his grandfather, the king. However, when Alizeh and Kamran’s path collide, everything changes forever. The prince becomes bewitched by Alizeh’s striking beauty and unique personality, and so begins to struggle in choosing between his duty, honour and his heart.
