Publisher Description

Come meet the four Melendy kids—Mona, Rush, Randy and Oliver!

With Father in Washington and Cuffy, their housekeeper, away visiting a sick cousin, almost anythin might happen to the Melendy kids left behind at the Four-Story Mistake. In the Melendy family, adventures are inevitable: Mr. Titus and the catfish; Rush's composition of Opus 3; Mona's first rhubarb pie; Randy's arrowhead; and the auction! But best of all is the friendship with Mark Herron, which begins with a scrap-drive and comes to a grand climax on Oliver's birthday.

Here is the third in Elizabeth Enright's classic children’s series telling the tales of a long and glorious summer in the country with the resourceful, endearing Melendy bunch!

"If I could rate this book ( and the whole series) 10 stars I would. I found this little known gem when I was about 10 years old in my small town local library where I made a challenge to myself to read as many of the books in the children's section as I could. As an adult - I have given this series of books to so many of my nieces and nephews and have made my grown up siblings read them as well. The kids adventures are simple and exciting and keep you drawn in to every second, These are one of the main reasons that I fell deeply in love with reading and how you can escape into it."

" The third book in the "Melendy Family" series by Elizabeth Enright. It's one of my favorites from that series, and again is an excellent children's book. I highly recommend it, but suggest you read the first two books first to get the idea of what is going on. "
