Mimi Shapiro needs to get away. From New York City, from NYU. And from the professor who let things go too far. So when her artist father, Marc, offers his cottage in a remote part of Canada, she gladly hops in her Mini Cooper and drives north. Way up north.
The little house is fairy-tale quaint, and the key is hidden right where her dad said it would be, so she's shocked to find someone already living there—Jay, a young musician, who is equally startled to meet Mimi and immediately accuses her of being the one who's been leaving strange and threatening tokens for him: a dead bird, a snake skin, a cricket soundtrack imbedded in his latest composition. But Mimi has just arrived, so who is responsible? And more alarmingly, what does the intruder want?

"This book was really cool. It was a bit boring but when the characters finally came into contact with each other it got better. Cramer is a total stalker and creeper. He was a weird character, I mean 20 years old and he was literally STALKING Mimi. FREAK. Come on, get a life dude. "

" Not a bad read, but not exactly within my field of interests- which is why I'll refrain from saying more about it, knowing any review I could possibly write would be biased. "
— Sarah, 2/18/2014" I thought this was going to be a creepy sort of thriller but it was remarkably lacking in suspense or mystery. The dynamics between the various offspring of Mr. Wild Oats Artist was interesting but not as fleshed out as I could have hoped. A mildly interesting read. "
— Eva, 2/13/2014" I am experimenting with various genres that I am not familiar with, including YA, science fiction and inspirational fiction. So this pick was a new YA book that was just OK. It stretched the imagination a bit but had interesting characters, locale and plot development. Not as fast paced and suspenseful as I had expected. "
— Joanne, 1/24/2014" Never finished it. Barely got through 100 pages. "
— Stephieshaver, 1/22/2014" I'm giving this book 3 stars because it was well enough but it was predictable, thus 3 stars. "
— Tiffany, 1/12/2014" This is not your typical mystery, but I couldn't help read it to see how the characters lives were intertwined and who was responsible for the strange things happening at the house on the snye. "
— Julie, 1/8/2014" A lot of swearing but the last 20pages were the best! "
— Kayla, 12/7/2013" This book was CRAZY! Unexpected stuff coming atchya! Awesome read, with a good ending. "
— Marina, 11/23/2013" Utterly creepy and suspenseful. Totally unique idea. Fantastic writing and characterizations. "
— Gwen, 11/8/2013" Strange and creepy. But I think that is how it was intended, so it hits the mark. Not my favorite (I really rather disliked Mimi, frankly) but I think it will really appeal to some readers. "
— Heather, 11/5/2013" AHHHHHHH!!!!!!! IT'S SOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!! A TOTALLY MUST READ BOOK!!!!!!! EEEEEEEKKKKKK!!!!! "
