"Everyone knows the story of the ugly duckling right? This retold story adds some depth and lovely pictures to illustrate the story. As was mentioned in my Children's Lit class it's sad that you have to be beautiful to feel of worth. However, the way I interpreted the book is that to feel accepted and loved you have to feel beautiful and to me the difference is that you can feel beautiful and be beautiful when perhaps the outside world wouldn't vote you as beautiful."

" This is an overall good book for elementary aged students. It has a great storyline that students can follow and has a strong message behind it that students can relate to through the animal characters. "

" This is the classic story that every child should be exposed to! People can be really cruel these days and the ugly duckling reminds us to look past people's appearances. The illustrations are memorizing and intricate. A beautiful book all around! "

" The original story is much darker than the innumerable, watered-down cutesy versions. The illustrations in the e-book version looked like free clipart and left much to be desired. "
