At the beginning of The Tehran Initiative, world governments are teetering on a tedious cliff. Iran has developed and tested nuclear weapons. At the same time, millions of Muslims worldwide have come to believe their messiah has arrived to save them.

Political and military watchdogs fear a nuclear strike driven by religious hysteria will destroy Israel and start the second Holocaust. A pre-emptive strike by Israel might be even worse, collapsing global economies because of the oil trade and starting World War III.

The Tehran Initiative is a sequel to The Twelfth Imam, which showcases the adventures of CIA operative David Shirazi. Shirazi was raised by Iranian parents in the United States. This past allows him infiltrate the Iranian government and military leadership in a way most could not. This is why it is Shirazi who is called when the President of the United States and the CIA are out of options. Shirazi receives an assignment to deal with the crisis in Iran and prevent a strike on Israel by any method possible, preferably by sabotaging Iran's nuclear program.

The book is packed with religious discussion, and can be categorized as Christian fiction paired with political suspense. Each decision or move made can be traced back to the religious mindset of the characters, with Christianity playing the role of good and the Middle Eastern religions typically driving evil deeds.

Author Joel C. Rosenberg is known for his Christian writing, and is an authority on Biblical prophecy and current events. His catalog includes five books relating modern religious terrorism to Bible prophecy as well as two books about current events and prophecy. His Last Jihad series of novels was also inspired by his Evangelical Christian beliefs. The Tehran Initiative was published in April 2012.

The world is on the brink of disaster. Iran has just conducted its first atomic weapons test. Millions of Muslims around the world are convinced their messiah known as the Twelfth Imam has arrived on earth. Israeli leaders fear Tehran, under the Twelfth Imam's spell, will soon launch a nuclear attack that could bring about a second Holocaust and the annihilation of Israel. The White House fears Jerusalem will strike first, launching a massive preemptive attack against Iran's nuclear facilities that could cause the entire Middle East to go up in flames, oil prices to skyrocket, and the global economy to collapse. With the stakes high and few viable options left, the president of the United States orders CIA operative David Shirazi and his team to track down and sabotage Iran's nuclear warheads before Iran or Israel can launch a devastating first strike. But will they be too late?

" The sequel to The Twelfth Imam was as good as the first--exciting, intriguing, edge-of-your-seat situations. Middle East tensions and the Muslim desire to eliminate Jews or all Zionists, including Americans, is central to the plot. Hard to put down. "
