"I've read The Summer Tree several times before and love the book. But the audio performance was such a disappointment. SImon Vance has a good voice and when he's narrating he is great but the ruins it when he speaks in the voices of characters. All the women sound very odd, is if they're out of breath. The Canadians sound like Bart Simpson, the Lios sound comically Welsh and the Dalrei all sound like Billy Connolly. Was this really necessary? Instead of 'acting' the emotion of the line, he just relies of pantomime voices and accent to do the work which completely ruins the book."

" I read some half of this book. The prose was pretty good, but the story was not quite believable, what with the sudden immersion into this totally foreign world. I stopped reading it because I found the blatant paganism and frequent sexual situations too off-putting. "

" Take this as 4.5 stars, if you will, because I did enjoy this book, though the language, at times, was a bit much. (And by that, I mean it was overly formal and flowery, not that there was a lot of swearing.) A fine story, though. We'll see how Book 2 goes. "

" Probably the only Fantasy book I've read so far, besides LOTR :D and I quite liked it!!! I really enjoy the mixture of worlds one feels in this book since there are also "tales" from the humans that are revealed little by little along the story. "

" I tried to like it. Instead I found it hard to follow and most of the characters not very interesting or believable. Made it half-way through the book before giving up. "
