Publisher Description

A shocking death exposes dangerous forces of seduction, obsession, and vengeance lurking beneath the idyllic surface of a prestigious New England university.

It is more than just the late November weather that has cast a chill over the campus of Atherton University. When the wife of respected professor Eric Eberman is killed in a tragic accident, his secret student lover, Randall Stone, fears the professor tried to avert career suicide by committing homicide. Or do the dead woman’s haunting last words point to an even more damning crime?

Fearing the truth, Randall digs into his lover’s hidden history. But what he finds draws him and everyone he cares for into a dark dance of sexual manipulation, twisted retribution, and murderous rage where nothing is as it seems. And no one will escape from it unscathed…if they escape at all.

In this emotionally gripping tale from New York Times bestselling author Christopher Rice, the past may seem buried, but it can come back with a deadly vengeance.

"Christopher Rice is the master of the UNANTICIPATED plot twist. I can truly say that every time the story changed directions, I didnt see it coming, and I found that extremely refreshing. And he has great ability to create characters that make you feel......um, well.....enthusiastic, lets say. I love the way he builds dramatic tension."

" Terrific plot that keeps building throughout the book. Couldn't put it down except for interruptions by others....I highly recommend this as another great work by the young author Christopher Rice. "

" I quit this pretty quickly after I started. It's his second book and I understand that, I wasn't looking for perfection, but this was just not what I was looking for. It was dry from the get-go and overly sexualized for my taste. I'm not afraid to read about sex, but this just wasn't my style. He's a gay author and he's young and wants everyone to come away with his opinion on things; it was preachy and unrealistic. I do have to point out that the book is not a "gay book" but several gay characters who rise some valid points of view. Maybe I'll pick it up again when I feel like I can tolerate it, but probably not. I read that his other books are much better and so maybe I'll pick up his first novel (I like reading authors first novels) or his third or fourth. He wrote this one during a "personal transition" time and it shows. What I can't get over is the bestseller status and how it must only be because of who his mother is. I hate quitting a book, especially so early in, but I just don't think I could go on. "

" It was my hope that Rice could devliver again after Density came out, but unfortunately fate had something else in mind. It was an obvious sign of his departure toward crime/drama with a gay twist, but it wasn't something expected. That said, it was, in its own right, an interesting book. It speaks volumes that one of my favorites was its predecessor and I can't remember what exactly happens in this book. "

" This is another one of those books that is outside my "norm" that I am used to. I wasn't sure what to think but I picked it up not having anything else to read and I was quickly drawn into the story. I must admit the homosexuality and the promiscuity was uncomfortable for me to read but it also seemed necessary for the storyline. I also thought I had figured out the "who done it" and was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong! "

" Good. I like his style. He does not write about vampires like his mother but they are more suspense, and he always has a gay character since he is as well. But he just makes it a charateristic of the charater. Excellent storyteller. HAs been a while since he has come out with a new book. "

" I found this to be Christopher's weakest write. It was poorly edited by his editor, but moreso, the story comes across as implausible, and the main character is not particularly likeable. "

" The Snow Garden was just ok to me. It was a bit slow in the beginning but by the end, it was hard to put down. There was a lot going on and the author jumped from past to present some that lost me along the way. If you are uncomfortable with homosexuality, you may not want to read this. "
