"This book used a paranormal framework to deal with the loss of a loved one. While there was some token action near the end, the characters were the focal point and both carefully developed. This book was refreshingly different. I felt that it tastefully addressed a difficult topic. " — Patrice (4 out of 5 stars)

" Read it in less than a day. I liked it pretty well but it was too short to get very attatched to the characters. More like a short story than a novel, but I recommend it. "
" It was all right, but not as good as Blood and Chocolate "
" Adore this book, truly a great vampire novel. Though too short, i wanted more! "
" YA story of a girl whose mother is dying of cancer. She meets a vampire and they have a connection because they are both so lonely, basically. Had some OK parts and Zoe coming to terms with her mother's approaching death was pretty good, but it didn't really connect with the vampire revenge plot too well. And their supposed romance was pretty unconvincing. I much preferred Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde for a similar type of read. "
" First vampire book ever read and loved it!! "
" This was one of my favorite books when I was in high school. I can't remember how I discovered it, or even much about it anymore, but I know that I loved it. I can also say that it was one of the first vampire romance novels I ever read. I'd recommend it to fans of Stephenie Meyer. "
" First real vampire book I ever read and I LOVED it. It's just one of those books I'd read again and again. "
" I really liked this book. It is also a coming of age type book dealing with acceptance, among other things, and realy interesting that is uses vampires to do it... "
" Threw it across the room when I was done with it!!!!! I hate when books end bad!!!! "
" A cute teen romance story. Although it is not very original, it does have substance and a really good lesson at the end. Good read for a rainy day but not a must have for your collection. "
" This book was really interesting. Though it did remind me very much of "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. I didn't expect the ending to end the way it did, yet it satisfied me. Just another lovely vampire novel. "
" love this one. even though it was sad in the ending "
" About the same as Blood and Chocolate, though I fear that this and BAC are really the only two good books from this author. "
" An emotional roller coaster. I cried my way through half this book. "
" one of my favorite books of all time. read it in jr. high, still remember it 20 years later. "
" i quite enjoyed this book. the ending of the book made me quite sad though. "
" Fantastic vampire story with very compelling characters. "
" so-so, not as good as blood and chocolate in having that teenage feeling of immortality but still a page turner in its own right "
" This was a sweet read. You feel so much for Simon. The story is emotional and in the end you can't but feel bittersweet. This is a book I would read when your in between books. "
" First vampire story I ever read. And from what I can remember, it made quite an impression on me. I was in love with the characters, especially Simon. Twilight couldn't even come close! Hahah. "
" Very short, fast read. PG-13 for violence. "
" I reallt liked it it had me hooked to the very last page "
" Good book, not like what the title suggests, really. It was pretty good, but to me, a bit boring. Sorry, but it's a 3 1/2 stars, though. It's good, but you might feel a bit bored. "
" This was a quick read and definitely worth the 2-3 hour investment of time, if you're into vampire lit. I could see the Twilight parallels, but honesty I don't think this book is even in the same class. IMHO, this book is much more firmly YA, with less crossover appeal. Still, I enjoyed it. "
" A good read for young readers. "
" A great story, very touching, but a sad ending. Could have gone more in depth with Simon's story I think. But overall a pretty good story. "
" This book was really great, but it needed about 50 more pages for some more relationship development. Other than that, it was edgy and romantic. Very good. "
" An amazing book, the only vampire romance book I could ever possibly like. "
" I read this book my sophomore year of high school, about two years after it was released. Back then, it was one of my favorites. That was when my love for vampire fiction started. I was thinking about rereading this and passing it along to my daughter. "
" This was an okay read. I really liked Simon and the depth to which Klause exposed him in many facets. What lacked for me was Zoe's character. She just didn't jump off the page and exude the angst, turmoil, and depth of character that was Simon. An entertaining read nonetheless. "
" It was a good book. Easy to understand the plot, the meaning and it was entertaining! I liked the characters :) "
