The Silent Miaow is the classic instruction book for all cats, based upon first-hand feline experience. Inside it contains all the information that every cat should know, such as: How to win a way into a household, take over a family and achieve control over each member. How to select a family and what to look for. How to move in. How to establish total and unquestioned sovereignty over the most comfortable chair. How to obtain the choicest food. How to treat visitors.

How to conduct a romance. And, finally: How to pass all this wisdom on to the kittens.

" i loved reading this book many years ago; i continue to hope that my cat is understanding what I say (and speaking to me)... non-cat lovers need not apply. "

" Grew up with this delightful book and now exploring his other works. Sentimental, twee, overly sweet, his style may be, but it still captures the heart. At times I wish there was a bit more of this in today's world. "

" this will slay you. I bought it (60s edition) from an old lady at a church rummage sale. She said, "Don't forget your kleenex!" "

" Don't ever think you are the owner of your cat. It's just not the case as proven by this gem of a book. ;) "

" A vastly entertaining book. Those who like cats will think, "what clever little sweeties", and those who don't will be more inclined to think "I knew what the little bastards were up to!". This joins the Mrs Harris series as Paul Gallico books I love. "

" Every cat lover must read this book, even though if you're a cat lover, you probably already know everything in it since you've lived it! A stray kitten's adoption of a human family, told through its point of view. "

" Hilarious advice on the art of living from less than a foot off the ground, and a few astute observations of human behaviour also. Must read for cat lovers. "

" Delightful in the extreme. The cat who wrote this is a human-nature expert, and advises her fellow species on how to take over a household and have them love you to bits. Wonderful photos throughout of the cat author demonstrating her best gambits. "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Terry | 2/17/2012

" Very cute book. Not much has changed in the mannerism of cats in the 48 years since this book was published although we owners probably pander to them even more so! "
