About Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin (1851–1904) was born in St. Louis. After marrying, she moved to Louisiana, where she raised six children. Chopin earned acclaim for her finely crafted short stories about the Creole and Cajun people of Louisiana. But her novel, The Awakening, was condemned for its controversial themes, which foreshadowed later feminist literature.

Her film work includes Leap Year, Batman, and Return to the Secret Garden. A prolific and award-winning narrator of audiobooks, she won an AudioFile Earphones Award for The Marvelous Land of Oz. Her extensive work in the voice field includes voice overs, animation, and postsync work for films. She is a codirector of the Story Circle audiobook production company. She is married to actor and producer Garrick Hagon.
