"I came across the movie "The secret she kept" by mistake about 2 months ago and i was moved to know that there actually so many other people out there whose lives appear to be perfect but in reality struggle with mental illnesses, however, the book? the audio book rather, Wow! i haven't the words to describe how beautiful and remarkable this book is. This book has touched my heart in every sense of the word, it has given me hope! A lot of hope. Tia is a strong woman and i think i understand why it took her a while to come clean, having a mother in denial and having a friend only to get such treatment, Wo!!! because oh well they are so many lucendas out there lol regardless Transparency is always important in a relationship better still a marriage. Having a mental illness is not an easy thing and it's sad how we black fox like to ignore mental illnesses and instead say things like " it's all in one's head" or " it's all part of growing up, it will pass, we've all felt lost" or that its a sign of weakness... ah ah people that's a no no! The earlier a mental illness is treated and accepted the better. Lance exercises patience, the kind of patience that can only be exercised when love is truly genuine. Tia's Mother is in denial but i like how she sticks to God in every senario. Beautiful!!"

" This was a very good book. Easy to listen to. I coild not pur it down. the storyline was a reality check for people who are in denial about love ones with mental health and how it can take a toll on a family. Even though it was a story it help me open my eyes to caring for a loved one. I have two family members with a mental illness a brother and mother. The love that Lance had and determination proves true love can conquer anything. "

" Pretty good read. Tia really needed help. I dont know how Lance stayed w/her through all her crazy spells, of plastic flowers, purple walls, getting arrested, walking two miles pregnant in heels to want to buy crack, smh! This book was crazy! but had a very good mesage. I applaud ReShonda for this book! Great Job! "

" The author did a great job in writing this novel. This novel speaks of mental illness. From the authors point of view it gave a lot of insights on what a person with a mental illness goes through, how the family is affected and how people who don't really understand the illness can act. It is so important that we continue to educate ourselves about this disease. Great job again to Reshonda Tate Billingsley. "
