" This was cute. Some very similar things to Harry Potter, though it was published before the Harry Potter series. A secret platform leading to another world in Kings Cross Station? A fat, spoiled boy antagonist with doting oblivious, horrible parents? An orphaned hero who lives in the same house in a windowless cupboard and is forced to do all the chores? Yeah...a lot of similarities. But there are some differences too. A quick, fun read. Boo to the fatphobia though. "

My reader is in the middle of first grade and I am not sure he would read this on his own, even in 2nd grade. I am sure that he would like it read to him. The story was enjoyable and I think he will like it. "
