"audiobook. The barony of Cant is a "real" place, but most people haven't heard of it, and since it is in the center of the part of the world it's in, it's right at the fold of the map. Hardworking, dependable Lucy is an orphan and maid to the baron's only daughter, when she is pulled unwillingly into a world of spying and a crisis of gum-chewing politics and baronial succession. I thought it odd that the reader, though very good, was male when the main character is female. This was shelved in the teen section, but it would appeal more to middle-schoolers"

" This was a fun one I read while waiting for my bookclub book. It was a little adventure, and mystery which I love. Found it in the junior section of the library. Definitely an easy read just for fun. "
— Leslie, 2/16/2014" A fun read, but it ends rather abruptly. Perhaps a sequel is planned. "
— Brittany, 1/26/2014" People raved about this book, but I just didn't get it. "
— Jennifer, 1/18/2014" I didn't like the ending, it needs a second book. "
— Olivia, 12/6/2013" This is actually a fairly interesting book. The one negative thing is that the author leaves the two girls right in the middle of escaping at the end, so it's not a very satisfying ending. Not sure if I'll read the other two books, since I found out the author was sentenced to prison for possession of child pornography. "
— Wendy, 11/25/2013" THis was a good book up until the horrible ending. It was good but had one of those endings where the author tries to wrap it in a ice neat bundle even though there is still a huge problem to solve. "
— â“eah, 10/26/2013" this book was good but it got on my nerves because its very not fair i dont think i should say why because i would probably spoil the book for someone "
— kristeen, 8/25/2013" I was really into the book for awhile but I hated the end. It didn't really resolve a lot of the issues that were going on throughout the book. The characters just seemed to run away from the problems going on. "
— Lesley, 8/6/2013" What a fun read! Full of amusing details as well as a story with interesting twists and an entertaining ending. I will search out other books by this author. "

— Dianne, 12/26/2012" Cute story of royal secret children and a revelution over drugged bubble gum. "
— Stefany, 9/29/2012" I'm not sure how to feel about this book. On the one hand, it was a very enjoyable read. On the other, I just learned that the author has been convicted for possession of child pornography. "
— Carmen, 9/27/2012" Incredibly funny, witty and entertaining. Manages to take an idea as crazy as a bubblegum rebellion and turn it into an awesome story. "
— Kary, 12/11/2011" very strange...... "
— Arabelle, 9/8/2011" The fun story of the adventurous and loyal maidservant Lucy Wickright. I found the book to be an enjoyable read, but I was a little put off by the abrupt ending. I would recommend this book for the 15 and under audience, as the writing seemed to be geared towards a younger reader. "
— Laurel, 1/6/2011" THis was a good book up until the horrible ending. It was good but had one of those endings where the author tries to wrap it in a ice neat bundle even though there is still a huge problem to solve. "
