" slow and meandering and completely enveloping. it moves a little slow for YA, I'm wondering if it would keep my kids attention, but it's such a magical story and one that my memories will go back to time and time again. "
" Often engaging -- though the author's religious and philosophical bias (toward the powerful "magic" of thoughts over medicine, science, etc.) felt a little preachy at points. I admittedly felt unsettled by the image of children raising themselves (for the most part) and the odd, implicit suggestion that these children "knew better" than most adults, with the notable exception of a friend's mother. "
" One of my favorite stories. I adore both this book and the movie and have since I was a child. "
" I read this with my daughter, who has a hard time finding things she likes but she really enjoyed this story. It inspires the imagination having this secret garden, along with the huge house to explore and the strange crying sounds coming from down the hall. It has a gothic feel, I guess I would call it a gothic children's story. The intrigue of the voice coming from down the hall reminded me of Jane Eyre. "
" pretty good read it last year, but very boring "
" A perfect classic.. I loved the story, characters, plot & climax. Made me laugh & cry. Reading this was an entirely different & refreshing experience... "
" sukaaa... Membaca buku ini jadi lebih menegaskan kembali indahnya keajaiban yang dikandung tanah dan tetumbuhan, hujan, matahari, udara, binatang2, dan alam, dan manusia juga... anak-anak... Jadi pengen berkebun... "
" I read this book when I was a very young girl... it taught me to believe in magic. Thank you. :) "
" I liked the garden the most "
" A very favorite childhood book. "
" A beautifully crafted story for girls 10-13 "
" I wish I'd read this when I was as a kid. (Although, if I had I may have been bizarrely convinced that fresh air and exercise could cure almost anything wrong with you....) "
" Do children or young adults read these wonderful books any more? They should because it is timeless... "
" What a cute book! Loved it. "
" my favorite book in the world when i was six years old "
" Great book from start to finish! "
" My rating for this book is 4.5 stars. It was a beautiful read. I loved it from the start especially the character of Mary Lennox. I would have given it a five stars but i felt Mary's character was sidelined in the end so the rating. "
" I had gotten this book in second grade and was completely confused by it. In fifth grade I reread it and understood hoe amazing it was. I loved how she could change and become someone completely different. "
" I read this book with my two daughters and was charmed by it all over again. "
" I loved this book. I'm not really sure why. K would never have bothered to pick it up on my own and only read it for my Children's Literature class. Now I am surprised that I didn't read it sooner because I really loved the film when I was little and am pleased to say that the book is even better. "
" I really thought this was a sweet and heart warming book. I had a little trouble with the good ol' Yorkshire speech as it took me a little longer to figure out some of what they were saying, but overall I really enjoyed it. "
" I started this 2 years ago on my ipod touch and it was a good choice for occasional reading. I love the messages of empowerment and appreciation of nature, and the ending is so satisfying. The little section from the robin's pov seemed a little out of place. "
" Great book my absolute favorite!!! "
" A lovely short classic written about a boy and girl who were spoilt, rude children who slowly became likeable and joyful with the help of another little boy and the discovery of the Secret Garden. It's a sweet story with the odd funny moment and a happy ending. "
" The garden of all gardeners dreams. This book and tragedy, fantasy, hope, and love mixed into the characters, plot, and truth in the story. "
" I love this book. Rereading it on my iPad to bring back the memories. :) "

" One of my first forays into reading a classic novel. I first read it in primary school and it was full of magic for me. "
" I've read this about 6 times. So should you. "
" One of my favorite books (that wasn't about animals) when I was growing up. "
" I read this to Paul and Lila, and we loved it. I don't think I've ever read it before. I didn't realize how much it is about the power of positive thinking. "
" I cannot count how many copies of this book I have bought. It is the perfect gift for a ten year old having a birthday. It brings back wonderful memories of a teacher reading to the class. Thank you Mrs. Jackson. "
" I really like the book but if I were rating the musical (which is amazing!), I'd give it 5 stars. It's one of my top 3 musicals. "
" It was as beautiful as I remember. A perfect read-aloud: we got to that magical point when no one, not even Mom who has a million things to do, wants to put it down. "
" One of those old books that when you start... you have to finish. What I recommend is: Watch the movie. Seriously. It might be different but it still gives the main point(s). Bleh... "
" My first english book I read for pleasure and not because someone told me to do so. "
" A book I would love to read again. Forever a childhood favourite. "
" All ills will be overcome by fresh air , hard work, and hot potatoes, with perhaps a bit of skipping. Orphaned? Unloved? Stop whining, get to work and you will be happy. We could use more of this attitude today! "
" Wish I had a secret garden. "
" Re-read this a few years ago and promptly planted a climbing rose. True story. "
