Eager to find a way to keep her daughter employed among the movers and shakers of Hollywood, Toots calls on her three trusted friends—Sophie, Mavis, and Ida—to help her pull some strings. Together, they’ll hatch a plan that promises thrills, laughter, and more than a hint of danger. Putting aside her widow’s weeds (black was never her color), Toots will prove that you should never underestimate a Southern lady of a certain age, and that each day can be a gift, if you’re willing to claim it.…

"This book is the beginning of another series from the author. This introduction starts out slow but finishes up quite nicely. The introduction of the cast of characters is quite lengthy and involved but I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series. "
— Patricia (4 out of 5 stars)
" I loved this book and the first in the Godmothers Series. Four unforgettable women who are about to get a whole new lease on life. "

— Kathleen, 2/8/2014" I found it very boring.Fern Michaels use to write some very good books page turners but she is grasping at straws for things to write about. "

— Lisa, 11/28/2013" This was one of the worst books I have ever read, which is a surprise since I normally enjoy Fern Michaels. The story was jumpy and had far to many characters and plot lines to make any of them enjoyable. At the end the story wraps up quickly like the author just ran out of steam writing. "

— Shelly, 7/25/2012" I usually love books by Fern Michaels. This one, not so much. It was obviously written to set up a sequel. I found the different stories too disjointed for my liking. I will read the next one that comes out, however, because of my normal enjoyment of this author's writings. "
— Pam, 7/23/2012" Easy read. Four women help each other in helping a daughter's publication. A bit self-serving. "
