Publisher Description

Camille Hart, one of Manhattan's most sought-after matchmakers, has survived more than her fair share of hardships. Her mother died when she was a young girl, leaving her and her sister with an absentee father. Now in her forties, she has already survived cancer once, though the battle revealed just how ill-equipped her husband Edward is to be a single parent. So when doctors tell Camille that her cancer is back—and this time it's terminal—she decides to put her matchmaking expertise to the test for one final job. Seeking stability for her children and happiness for her husband, Camille sets out to find the perfect woman to replace her when she's gone.

But what happens when a dying wish becomes a case of "be careful what you wish for"? For Edward and Camille, the stunning conclusion arrives with one last twist of fate that no one saw coming.

At once deeply felt and witty, The Replacement Wife is an unforgettable story of love and family, and a refreshing look at the unexpected paths that lead us to our own happy endings.

"That was quite a book... The ending wasn't exactly how I wished it would be but I guess sometimes my wishes are fairy tails... I enjoyed this book just like all of the others I have read by Eileen Goudge... She is a great story teller."

" Not one of my favorite Eileen Goudge books. Definitely a unique story line and you couldn't be sure who you were rooting for. I would recommend it; but read with an open mind and no expectations. "

" I couldn't finish this one, which is very rare for me. The main character is supposed to be in her mid-forties but it read like she was in her 60s (surprise! This just so happens to be the authors age). The vocabulary was dated, the characters wardrobe descriptions were dated...The main character spoke like an old lady and at one point referred to Robert Redford at the hottest guy on the planet... I'm only about 5 years younger than the main character and I could NOT relate to this character. The dialogue just ring true. What a waste of my time and money on this one. "

" A sappy romance but a good. Ended about as I expected. Not entirely happily ever after though. "

" My two star rating of this book is awfully harsh, I know. But even though this book kept me reading until the end, I really hated the direction the book took. And Goudge tends to get wordy - the book was way longer than it should have been. "

" I tried but this book maybe it is that I am not in the mood for the topic I rarely don't finish books. I will try it again in a few months. "

" Pretty much the exact story I thought it would be, but with a twist. Easy to read, but at the end I found myself wanting to finish it, just so I could move on to the next book I'm interested in. "

" Although the book is well- written and that got me through the whole thing, the ending of the book ( the last 40 or so pages) ruined the whole book for me. The foreshadowing in some aspects of this book was so ridiculous that I predicted the outcome with still well over 100 pages to go. "

" It's hard to really like this controlling "heroine" no matter her life situation. You may understand her behavior and appreciate her as a patient: as a friend or somebody you want to spend time with? No way!! The husband is much more likable and understandable "

" I found myself skimming through many parts of this book. I felt like the author added in so many unnecessary details. I didn't really think knowing every little bit of information about some of the main characters siblings was at all needed. The story was good though. "
