Camille Hart, one of Manhattan’s most sought-after matchmakers, has survived more than her fair share of hardships. Her mother died when she was a young girl, leaving her and her sister with an absentee father. Now in her forties, she has already survived cancer once, though the battle revealed just how ill-equipped her husband Edward is to be a single parent. So when doctors tell Camille that her cancer is back—and this time it’s terminal—she decides to put her matchmaking expertise to the test for one final job. Seeking stability for her children and happiness for her husband, Camille sets out to find the perfect woman to replace her when she’s gone.

But what happens when a dying wish becomes a case of “be careful what you wish for”? For Edward and Camille, the stunning conclusion arrives with one last twist of fate that no one saw coming.

At once deeply felt and witty, The Replacement Wife is an unforgettable story of love and family, and a refreshing look at the unexpected paths that lead us to our own happy endings.

" Not one of my favorite Eileen Goudge books. Definitely a unique story line and you couldn't be sure who you were rooting for. I would recommend it; but read with an open mind and no expectations. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Jacqueline | 1/31/2014

" I couldn't finish this one, which is very rare for me. The main character is supposed to be in her mid-forties but it read like she was in her 60s (surprise! This just so happens to be the authors age). The vocabulary was dated, the characters wardrobe descriptions were dated...The main character spoke like an old lady and at one point referred to Robert Redford at the hottest guy on the planet... I'm only about 5 years younger than the main character and I could NOT relate to this character. The dialogue just ring true. What a waste of my time and money on this one. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Chelly | 1/8/2014

" A sappy romance but a good. Ended about as I expected. Not entirely happily ever after though. "

" "Eileen Goudge creates characters you come to love and hate to leave. Deeply felt and witty, The Replacement Wife is an unforgettable story of love and family, and a refreshing look at the unexpected paths that lead us to our own happy endings. I have read all her books - highly recommend this author!" Each of her books are as good as the next! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Diane Davis | 1/3/2014

" That was quite a book... The ending wasn't exactly how I wished it would be but I guess sometimes my wishes are fairy tails... I enjoyed this book just like all of the others I have read by Eileen Goudge... She is a great story teller. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Leslie | 12/28/2013

" My two star rating of this book is awfully harsh, I know. But even though this book kept me reading until the end, I really hated the direction the book took. And Goudge tends to get wordy - the book was way longer than it should have been. "

  • 1 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 51 out of 5 Denise | 12/16/2013

" I tried but this book maybe it is that I am not in the mood for the topic I rarely don't finish books. I will try it again in a few months. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Amy | 12/13/2013

" Pretty much the exact story I thought it would be, but with a twist. Easy to read, but at the end I found myself wanting to finish it, just so I could move on to the next book I'm interested in. "

" I was hooked right from the blurb! A topic not many would think of, let alone consider. I had to read for myself and see how this unique story played out. Review coming Soon! "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Beth Peter | 11/30/2013

" This book was somewhat predictable but I enjoyed it very much. It was a bit sad at times though. All in all a good read. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Stacy | 6/7/2013

" It's very rare that I don't finish a book but I did with this one. I found that it was very predictable from the first few chapters, I could figure out the ending by chapter 5. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Shannon Brown | 1/17/2013

" I did like this book although it was pretty predictable.... To be honest there were parts of the book that dragged and others that just did not seem to fit. Overall it was good.... "

  • 4 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 54 out of 5 Erica Bartnicki | 1/14/2013

" Was good overall...didn't care for the ending. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Kelly Freir | 12/13/2012

" Although the book is well- written and that got me through the whole thing, the ending of the book ( the last 40 or so pages) ruined the whole book for me. The foreshadowing in some aspects of this book was so ridiculous that I predicted the outcome with still well over 100 pages to go. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Robyn | 11/14/2012

" I really enjoyed this book. Really interesting story line but events were very predictable. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Docsheila | 10/8/2012

" It's hard to really like this controlling "heroine" no matter her life situation. You may understand her behavior and appreciate her as a patient: as a friend or somebody you want to spend time with? No way!! The husband is much more likable and understandable "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Sara Narrow-LaPoint | 2/11/2012

" I found myself skimming through many parts of this book. I felt like the author added in so many unnecessary details. I didn't really think knowing every little bit of information about some of the main characters siblings was at all needed. The story was good though. "
