"As a big fantasy book fan I find it harder and harder to find new and exciting novels which are not simply Tolkien rip offs, and this book is nothing of the sort. It does take awhile to get into mainly due to the multiple different characters, but once you are over the initial breath of characterisation you will soon see it was worth it. The characters are all individual and not the fearless invincible heroes that we are too often provided with. The "enemies" seem real and are not just the usual bad guys, this is by no means a simple good verses evil battle. Plus the magical structure used is also refreshing and new.
