"I was fortunate enough to be a first reader winner and I thoroughly enjoyed this crime novel. It gives you a inside look into police work and the plot was gripping and I could identify with the characters. It was a tension filled read that I could barely put down. Jane Casey has a new fan in me and I am looking forward to reading her other books in this series. I would definitely recommend this book."

" This is the first time that I have read a book by Casey. Definitely not for the faint of heart, this is a crime novel at its best. Non-stop action, police force and detectives pulled in many different directions. Told from the point of view of a young woman on the force, in London. She brings humor to a complicated and, at times, horrifying story. . "

" Meh. Wasn't a great mystery. It kept escalating the last third of the book. It drove me nuts. I almost gave up when there was only 50 pages left. The voice shift was odd so close to the end of the book. Annoyed that I wasted my time. "

" The primary story, while bloody and awful is pretty interesting. Dealing with pedophiles in a terminal manner gets very gory. The kidnnapping of the gangsters' daughter is also interesting. What is not so interesting is all the romance: will he, won't he, does he, does she? Kind of like Junior high. That is, until the end when Ms. Casey ties it all up. Very good ending, but torturous getting there. "

" I like the character Maeve. I liked the fact that she isn't perfect. The idea of a serial killer targeting sex offenders is good. Should their deaths be given the same urgency as a non-sex offender? Who is responsible for the killings? This book kept me guessing. "

About Jane Casey
Jane Casey is the author of the Maeve Kerrigan mystery series, the Jess Tennant mysteries, and several novels. She was born and raised in Dublin. She studied English at Jesus College, Oxford, followed by an mPhil in Anglo-Irish literature at Trinity College, Dublin. She lives in London, where she works as an editor.
About Sarah Coomes
Sarah Coomes trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and spent three blissful years there, learning how to cry, speak Shakespeare, and stage fight like a tiger. She is a comedienne and an actress, appearing in numerous television shows in England, including a recurring role as Nurse Leonard in the popular series EastEnders. She won the 2008 Westminster Prize for her play Hookie and an AudioFile Earphones Award for her narration of The Unforgotten Coat by Frank Cottrell Boyce in 2011.
