"I really loved this. I think is my new favorite Heyer novel. It was amazing. It as all heyer novels keeps you guessing until almost the very end as to whodunnit. Or rather who is out to get whom and why. A little romance, a little mystery and alot of wit and charm. If you love Georgette Heyer and haven't read this one try it, you'll love it."

" There is simply nothing like a good Georgette Heyer, and this is a good one. Read it so you can experience the author who inspired an entire genre of fiction. Read it so you can drop into another world. Read it for the great characters and twisting plot. "

" Although not one of Heyer's most lively regencies, it is one that I enjoy more with each rereading. Amusingly, I can pinpoint almost exactly when I read it because somehow (blushing) the copy from my junior high library never made it back to the school... "

" The plot, despite having been revved up by a gothic element, was predictable. Gervase and Drusilla as a couple had potential but lacked some bonding elements that left me feeling lukewarm when they finally got together. This books is at the bottom of my list of Georgette Heyer books. (To be fair, I've gobbled up all of her books so take that last sentence with a grain of salt.) "

" More action than usual in this Regency novel - clever plotting with a bit of mystery, and as ever with Heyer, an exciting and satisfying conclusion. Wonderfully drawn characters, very enjoyable. "

" A Regency mystery/romance similar in style to Wilkie Collins. I really enjoyed both the characters and the plot and look forward to reading more of her books. "

" More mystery than romance, but I enjoyed both aspects anyway. The hero is one of Heyer's apparently meek but masterly anyway heroes. I'd figured out who the villain was and what his game was fairly early on, and the romance was in pretty small moments/details, but it was a pleasant and well-written read. "

" I only made it about 30 pqges into this book before I gave up. I could never tell who's POV the story was coming from and so much talking and rambling that I just couldn't stand it. I don't think I'll try reading another book by this author again. ugh! "

" Excellent story! I'm particularly partial to the fact that the heroine is quiet & on the plump side; the hero, while dashingly handsome, is also quiet and kind but firm & steady in his purpose. The secondary characters especially Mr. & Mrs. Morville and Lady Frant are superbly drawn. "

" This book of Heyer's is very light on the romance, definitely not one to read if you're looking for love. It's far more a story of intrigue in a family. Still fun and light reading just not what I was expecting. "
