"Love this story and the slow release of information with every page turn. Took me back to my younger days and completely floored me at the end. I devoured this book and all its tortured souls!"

" I can see why she is compared to Ruth Rendell. She's trying hard to emulate the form and style but it seemed like she was trying a bit too hard. I didn't really like the protagonist or find her believable. It's almost as if she's applied a computer model to a Ruth Rendell/Barbara Vine novel and this is what's been generated: a mysterious, attractive and enigmatic young woman, a tragedy, eccentric characters who are not quite believable. It's almost a parody. Disapppointing. "

" I originally chose this book b/c of its title and cover, it came across as interesting. I enjoyed imagining how each character's accent would sound like throughout the book. An intriguing story built upon the relationship between three main characters, all the while centering around a few main aspects: Life choices, Love, & Loyalty. At least that's my take on it. "

" i enjoyed this but the fact that i was almost near the end before the actual main thing 'happened' was annoying as this was referred to throughout the book. generally im not a fan of first person style novels but this was ok. very easy reading, simple plot and language. "

" OK, so I'm a sucker for bookflap copy that name-checks Donna Tartt and Tana French. Compared to those two, The Poison Tree was just OK. Well written and engaging, but still lacking somehow. Surprise ending felt kind of artificial and tacked-on. Still, it was the best thing I've read in a while. "

" I probably would give this pretender to the Ruth Rendell throne four stars if it weren't for the fact that the characters really annoyed me! Rex was such a nebbish and Biba was always so clearly up to no good (and their filthy home sounded disgusting rather than alluring!) that I couldn't fathom why Karen was so entranced by these people. Blech! However, points for the suspense part, which was ace, and I also LOVED all the descriptive stuff about London! So a strong debut by Erin Kelly; I'm looking forward to reading her next novel. " Not what I was expecting. Thought it would be more of a murder mystery. Interesting build-up and I kept turning the pages. I have to admit that I was a little disappointed by the end and I predicted much of it. However, I will read more from the author because of her writing style. "
