Ella Wheeler Wilcox (1850–1919)
was an American author and poet. She was born in Johnstown, Wisconsin and, once married,
moved to Long Island Sound where she and her husband Robert held literary and
social gatherings at what became known as Bungalow Court. Her most enduring
work is “The Way Of The World.”
