About the Narrators

Allyson Johnson is an actress and singer who began performing in her hometown of Chicago at age twelve as coanchor of Bubble Gum Digest, a weekly children’s television news program, for which she won an Emmy. After earning a degree in psychology from Brown University, she moved to New York where she became a social worker before shifting to a career in television and radio. As a professional voice-over actress for more than twelve years, Johnson has recorded countless commercials, promos, audiobooks, narrations, and animation series.

Dan Woren is an American voice actor and award-winning narrator. He has worked extensively in animation, video games, and feature films. He is best known for his many roles in anime productions such as Bleach and as the voice of Sub-Zero in the video game Mortal Kombat. His audiobook narration has won him three AudioFile Earphones Awards.

Gemma Dawson is a classically trained British actress who was born and raised in London, England. She has narrated over sixty audiobooks and has also lent her voice to documentaries, television shows, commercials, and major motion pictures. A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Gemma lives in New York City.

Graeme Malcolm is an actor and audio narrator, winning nine AudioFile Earphones Awards. He has performed on Broadway as Pharaoh in Aida and as Sir Edward Ramsay in The King and I. His television appearances include Law & Order, Follow the River, and Mr. Halpern and Mr. Johnson (with Laurence Olivier). His film credits include A Further Gesture, The Adventures of Sebastian Cole, and Reunion.

Joe Barrett has appeared both on and off Broadway as well as in hundreds of radio and television commercials. He has earned eighteen AudioFile Earphones Awards and has been nominated for the prestigious Audie Award. He has narrated books by such authors as Trevanian, Brian Freeman, Don Winslow, and James W. Huston.

Kiff VandenHeuvel is originally from Grand Rapids, MI and is an alumni of the Second City comedy theater. Kiff is an accomplished improviser and sketch comedy director, and he teaches voice-over, improv and directing at Second City Hollywood. Kiff has appeared in hundreds of TV and radio commercials and is well known in the video game community as the voice of Zachary Hale Comstock in Bioshock: Infinite. He lives in LA with his wife and daughter.

L. J. Ganser is the winner of the prestigious Audie Award for Best Nonfiction Narration for his work in The Island at the Center of the World. He has recorded over 450 titles recorded to date. Prized for versatility, he has narrated projects ranging from preschool picture books to crime noir thrillers, from astronomical adventures in both science and science fiction, to Arctic Circle high-school basketball stories.

Lauren Fortgang, a graduate of Fordham University’s Theater Program, is an actress, narrator, and costume designer. She has recorded everything from video games to textbooks. Her audiobook narrations have earned three AudioFile Earphones Awards and placed her as a finalist for an Audie Award in 2014.

Peter Ganim is an American actor who has appeared on stage, on television, and in film. He has performed voice-over work since 1994. His audiobook narration has won three AudioFile Earphones Awards.

Rick Zieff has been immersed in the entertainment industry for over twenty-five years. His dynamic and entertaining coaching style makes him a sought-after lecturer throughout the country. He is a regular speaker at both the Showbiz Expo and Actorfest, and is a guest teacher at many popular LA acting workshops. He has narrated several audiobooks, including The Road to El Dorado and Toy Story.

Robert Fass is a veteran actor and twice winner of the prestigious Audie Award for best narration. He has earned numerous Earphones Awards, including one for his narration of Francisco Goldman’s Say Her Name, which was named one of AudioFile magazine’s Best Audiobooks of 2011. He has given voice to modern and classic fiction writers alike, including Ray Bradbury, Joyce Carol Oates, Isaac Asimov, Jeffrey Deaver, and John Steinbeck, as well as to nonfiction works in history, memoir, health, journalism, and business.

Ron Butler is a Los Angeles–based actor, audiobook narrator, and voice artist with over a hundred film and television credits. Most kids will recognize him from the three seasons he spent on Nickelodeon’s True Jackson, VP. He works regularly as a commercial and animation voice-over artist and has voiced a wide variety of audiobooks. He is a member of the Atlantic Theater Company and an Independent Filmmaker Project Award winner for his work in the HBO film Everyday People. He has also won four AudioFile Earphones Awards.

Suzanne Toren has recorded hundreds of audiobooks and has earned twenty-nine Earphones Awards from AudioFile magazine. She has received the Narrator of the Year Award for her audiobook recordings for the Library of Congress. She has performed on Broadway and in regional theaters in works penned by Shakespeare, Molière, and Arthur Miller. She has also appeared on Law & Order and in various soap operas.
