Publisher Description

Parker, the ruthless antihero of Richard Stark's eponymous mystery novels, is one of the most unforgettable characters in hardboiled noir. Lauded by critics for his taut realism, unapologetic amorality, and razor-sharp prose-style, Stark is a master of crime writing, his books as influential as any in the genre. Parker goes under the knife in The Man with the Getaway Face, changing his face to escape the mob and a contract on his life. Along the way he scores his biggest heist yet: an armored car in New Jersey, stuffed with cash.

"My second Parker novel, and just as good as the first. I love the simplicity of these things. Tighter than tight. Also, sudden, casual violence always works for me. "

" Even when things look like they won't work out Parker makes sure they do anyway. Tidy and clever top to bottom. And then there's something in a box. "

" Another quick hit, interesting read. I'm excited to continue reading these. They're short enough that the action keeps up without requiring the endless plot twists and turns of something like a Dan Brown novel. Probably going to push through the series. "

" Stark (Westlake) hasn't let me down yet! A quick fun read, although not as much "fun" as Westlakes later books wherein he adds a dark sense of humor. The Parker seriescappears to just be dark. Not sure why I like this anti-hero, but I do. "
