Publisher Description

What is Christianity? It is Christ. Nothing more, nothing less. Christianity is not an ideology and not a philosophy. Christianity is the Good News that beauty, truth, and goodness are found in a Person. And conversion? It's more than a change in direction; it's a change in connection.

"Fantastic. Those of us who profess to be followers and worshipers of Jesus spend most of our time getting entangled and immersed in all manner of religious philosophies, controversies, and trivia when, as Sweet and Viola, powerfully portray we're missing the person who is at the heart of the universe. The writing and flow can be a little uneven, as you might expect from a co-authored book, but in general it's well-written. I highly recommend this book for those who love the church, those who believe but have been disappointed by the church, and those who are interested in Jesus but are really turned off by those who say they believe in him."

" This was pretty disappointing. With all of the hype and attention this is getting I expected more. The princples in are sound, if familiar. I think it's length really took away a lot of it's power. I think it would have worked a lot better if it had been a long magazine article in Christianity today. It threw out a lot of principles and idea, but in my opinion didn't really dig deep enough to make any of them particularly compelling. Also, I didn't feel it was working toward a conclusion... other than supporting their basic premise that Jesus Christ is all. I think the real problem is that there was nothing new here. If you've been to church you've heard this sermon a million times (even though they make a point of saying that it's just the opposite). I had high hopes that this would be really interesting and thought-provoking. I suppose it could serve as a good refresher on the fundamentals of Christianity, but it certainly isn't going to break any new ground. "

" So often we as Christians forget our roots. We have made Christianity, even Jesus something so much more than it was intended. We set beliefs, thoughts and ourselves as a top priority. Jesus Manifesto sets the believer right. Viola and Sweet help in aiming the rudder to the degree of Christ and all His glory. Read this book and learn how to join in the divine dance of manifesting Jesus in every aspect of your life through understanding His simple yet scandalous love for you. "

" One of the best books I've read in years. Christopher-centric without being tied in to the Calvinism so prevalent today (and so distasteful to so many). Piper fans and Piper non-fans will both love it I think. "
