Publisher Description

A Hitchcock fanatic with an agenda invites old friends for a weekend stay at his secluded themed hotel in this fiendishly clever, suspenseful new novel from the international bestselling author of Darling Rose Gold.

Alfred Smettle is not your average Hitchcock fan. He is the founder, owner, and manager of The Hitchcock Hotel, a sprawling Victorian house in the White Mountains dedicated to the Master of Suspense. There, Alfred offers his guests round-the-clock film screenings, movie props and memorabilia in every room, plus an aviary with fifty crows.

To celebrate the hotel’s first anniversary, he invites his former best friends from his college Film Club for a reunion. He hasn’t spoken to any of them in sixteen years, not after what happened.

But who better than them to appreciate Alfred’s creation? And to help him finish it.

After all, no Hitchcock set is complete without a body.

Stephanie Wrobel cements her status as one of the most original and exciting writers of suspense working today… In this both fun and frightening tribute to Hollywood's master of suspense, Wrobel conveys the psychology of very flawed characters grappling with sudden vulnerability and suppressed guilt, and ratchets up the intrigue step by meticulous step until the reader is racing through the pages to uncover the underlying menace. Releasing just in time for the 150th celebration of Hitchock's birth, THE HITCHCOCK HOTEL is a pitch-perfect rendering of what makes his movies special and a singular story of thrills in its own right.

— Natalie Jenner, international bestselling author of The Jane Austen Society

Quotes

  • Fans of Knives Out, Agatha Christie, and (of course) Alfred Hitchcock, rejoice! The Hitchcock Hotel is cool, classy – but such fun; reverent – yet so original. And – above all – almost biologically impossible to put down once picked up. Hitchcock would’ve loved it. I sure as hell did.

    — AJ Finn, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Woman in the Window and End of Story
  • A slow burn of suspense, secrets, and lies that—in true Hitchcockian fashion—explodes into a series of twists, each more jaw-dropping than the last.

    — Riley Sager, New York Times bestselling author of Middle of the Night
  • With gasp-worthy twists and razor-sharp wit, Stephanie Wrobel pays brilliant tribute to Alfred Hitchcock’s legacy in The Hitchcock Hotel. When five college friends gather at one’s Hitchcock-themed hotel, dangerous secrets from the past refuse to stay buried. Trapped with no way out, they must figure out the mastermind behind the increasingly disturbing incidents to stay alive. A masterful, perfectly plotted Hitchcockian tale for our times.

    — Julia Bartz, New York Times bestselling author of The Writing Retreat
  • The Hitchcock Hotel is not only enthralling and suspenseful, but author Stephanie Wrobel has managed to craft a wholly original thriller filled with the pleasures of homage and a tribute to one of the great suspense storytellers. Like any Hitchcock film, prepare for fantastic twists, complex characters, and an ending you'll think about long after THE END.

    — Vanessa Lillie, USA Today bestselling author of Blood Sisters
  • The Hitchcock Hotel is the perfect fall read: atmospheric, spooky, with so many twists and turns that even Hitchcock himself would've been on the edge of his seat. And like the best of Hitchcock, Stephanie Wrobel's masterful psychological suspense keeps the 'terror in the anticipation of the bang' until the very last second.

    — Halley Sutton, author of the instant USA Today bestseller, The Hurricane Blonde
  • Stephanie Wrobel is back with another brilliantly unsettling, chilling thriller. Utterly gripping and Hitchcockian in the most literal sense, this staggering novel unravels the decades-old mystery surrounding six former college friends. Wrobel creates an intricately terrifying plot with a cast of suspicious characters, all who have something to hide and one who will die. Sinister, scintillating, and compulsively creepy, The Hitchcock Hotel is an irresistible, genius read that will astound you.

    — Samantha M. Bailey, USA Today bestselling author of A Friend in the Dark
  • Fans of Alfred Hitchcock will adore this homage to the master of suspense, as will anyone looking for a captivating thriller. Wrobel weaves a story filled with unexpected twists, including one that's positively mind-blowing. I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough.

    — Margarita Montimore, USA Today bestselling author of Oona Out of Order
  • Wrobel masterfully weaves together multiple POVs to spin a near-suffocating web of suspense. The tension—and thrills—intensify as each sordid secret, bitter grudge, and simmering resentment surfaces, culminating in the reveal of one shocking hidden agenda. With themes of loyalty, obsession, guilt, and voyeurism, The Hitchcock Hotel kept me locked in from the first page to the last. —K.T. Nguyen, author of You Know What You Did

  • Stephanie Wrobel is a go-to author for stories full of suspense and social commentary. The Hitchcock Hotel is equal parts fresh and chilling. Filled with humor, tension, and intrigue, this twisty read will grip readers from start to finish!

    — Saumya Dave, author of What a Happy Family
  • Artful construction, shudder-inducing suspense, and cinematic sparkle make The Hitchcock Hotel the perfect weekend escape—eerie movie-themed inn not required. Wrobel’s inspired treatment of the Hitchcockian motifs we know so well further secures her place as a master of premium high-concept psychological fiction. Hitch would be proud.

    — Tessa Wegert, author of Death in the Family
  • Hugely readable and tremendous fun. As twisty as a Hitchcock film, full of mystery and suspense, this is a hotel I recommend checking into - even if there’s no guarantee you’ll make it out alive…

    — Alex Michaelides, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Silent Patient and The Fury
  • A compelling story of murder in a Hitchcock-themed hotel. This is a richly atmospheric thriller with a premise to die for. Addictive and entertaining in equal measure.

    — Alex Pavesi, bestselling author of Eight Detectives
  • [T]his locked-room mystery contains masterful pacing, with suspense built around the identity of the victim and then the discovery of the killer. Wrobel's third novel (after This Might Hurt, 2022) artfully blends suspense with mystery, tying in quotes from Hitchcock as well as research about his work that will be intriguing to Hitchcock amateurs and aficionados alike.
