" This book is darling! It's perfect for elementary school. The chapters are an easy length and every couple of pages there's a good vocabulary word to learn. "

" The illustrations are the best part. It's cute but I'm in the mood for something else. "

" Fun premise - bird pirates. Great adventure story. Terrific illustrations. "

" I really liked the premise of this book (Blue Jay pirate) and the illustrations. But that's just about it. The story was surprisingly dull, and it's a bit violent--it features numerous battles and deaths. The story themes of oppression and revolution did not seem age appropriate (at least for my six year old). "
