Plot Summary

The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery that Holds the Secret to America's Future, is based on the role that the Bible verse Isaiah 9:10 may play in the past and the future of the United States. The Harbinger links the scripture to the 9/11 attacks in New York City, as well as to the global economic crisis. The book proposes that these links are all manifestations of how the harbingers of judgment are looming in America today.

It discusses the seemingly prophetic messages mentioned as warnings that Israel was facing its end in Isaiah, and compares them to the events taking place in the United States today. The book calls them the Nine Harbingers, and sees them as a sign of the end-times, at least for America. The Harbinger explains these warning signs, and believes they can be used to pin point exactly what, when and where the prophecies will come true.

A fictional narrative is used to explain the prophecies and unveil the mystery. In this story, a figure known only as The Prophet gives a man nine seals. Each seal contains a specific omen, representing the Nine Harbingers. This gives the book the feel of a mystery novel while presenting the underlying facts in a way that is easy to understand and verify.

Jonathan Cahn is a Messianic Rabbi, as well as the President of Hope of the World ministries. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor of the Jerusalem Center/Beth Israel in Wayne, New Jersey. He has a syndicated radio show and has appeared on many other television and radio shows. The Harbinger is his first book.

"I think every American Christian should read this book. If it doesn't drive you to your knees to ask the Lord's mercy when He judges America, then nothing will. It is a parable that juxtaposes The judgement of Ancient Israel with the imminent judgement of America based upon the same biblical pattern laid out in the book of Isaiah."

Publisher Summary

Is it possible that there exists an ancient mystery that holds the secret of America's future? That this mystery lies behind everything from 9/11 to the collapse of the global economy? That ancient harbingers of judgment are now manifesting in America? That God is sending America a prophetic message of what is yet to come? Before its end as a nation, there appeared in ancient Israel nine specific warnings and omens of national destruction - these same Nine Harbingers are now manifesting in America with profound ramifications for America's future and end-time prophecy.

Hidden in an ancient biblical prophecy from Isaiah, the mysteries revealed in The Harbinger are so precise that they foretell recent American events down to the exact days: the 3,000-year-old mystery that revealed the exact date of the stock market collapse of 2008... the ancient prophecy that was proclaimed from the floor of the US Senate and then came true...and more. The revelations are so specific that even the most hardened skeptic will find it hard to put down. Though it sounds like the plot of a Hollywood thriller - IT'S REAL.

The prophetic mysteries are factual but revealed through a riveting narrative the reader will find hard to put down. The Harbinger opens with the appearance of a man burdened with a message he has received from a mysterious figure called The Prophet. The Prophet has given him nine seals, each containing a message about America's future. As he tells of his encounters with the Prophet, from a skyscraper in New York City to a rural mountaintop to Capitol Hill to Ground Zero, the mystery behind each seal is revealed. As the story unfolds, each revelation becomes another piece in a larger and larger puzzle, the ramifications of which are, even now, altering the course of America and the world.

" It was interesting. The comparison to the ancient and the present. I have to remember that it was fiction. There will be much more to the coming judgment than that simple passage. The author however was very clever and made it all plausable. "

" I couldn't finish this book even though it was highly rated. Although I am no bible scholar, I know enough to know this book is biblically false. America does not have a covenant with God the way Israel does. I also don't believe in taking scripture out of context to justify his argument. "
