Do you need something? Mac can get it for you. It's what he does—he and his best friend and business manager, Vince. Their methods might sometimes run afoul of the law, or at least the school code of conduct, but if you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can pay him, Mac is on your side. His office is located in the East Wing boys' bathroom, fourth stall from the high window. And business is booming.
Or at least it was, until one particular Monday. It starts with a third grader in need of protection. And before this ordeal is over, it's going to involve a legendary high school crime boss named Staples, an intramural gambling ring, a graffiti ninja, the nine most dangerous bullies in school, and the first Chicago Cubs World Series game in almost seventy years. And that's just the beginning. Mac and Vince soon realize that the trouble with solving everyone else's problems is that there's no one left to solve yours.

"Way cute funny story about a 6th grader who is in business of helping his classmates with problems. He runs his business in an old bathroom that no one uses any more the fourth stall to be more precise. Very clever and dramatic. Thanks bob."

“Here is an original—a story that really gets how guys are pals. It’s also funny, mysterious, and true to the heart of what really matters when you are in middle school. Do yourself a favor. Read it. Now.”
— Jon Scieska, author of the Time Warp Trio series“Debut novelist Rylander mines a substantial amount of humor and heart from this combination hard-boiled crime novel and middle-grade character piece. A light and enjoyable caper.”
— Publishers Weekly“Draws in even the most apprehensive young reader…A robust story rich in action, adventure, humor, and friendship.”
— VOYA“Mac narrates the tale with the arch flatness of a 1940s satire of the noir detective genre…Excellent.”
— Booklist" This was so cute. While I would say this is one of the young adult books for adults, my middle schoolers will love it! "
— Catlopez, 2/13/2014" I liked the book but I had a problem with the gambling issue in elementary school. Am I naive? I did like the characters and the way they interacted. I really liked Mac and his friends and their 'business' of problem solving. "
— Debbie, 2/6/2014" The cover looks a bit like a horror novel which is deceptive. This is a boy humor book about a kid who runs a business out of the fourth bathroom stall getting kids what they need. Bullies, bodyguards, and baseball. "
— Jordan, 1/25/2014" Mac and Vince are 6th graders running a successful "problem-solving" business out of the school bathroom. When a little kid comes in with a BIG problem, they get in over their heads & must use all their wits and resources to outsmart a local crime legend. Written in a noir detective style, it's worth reading just for the hilarious character sketches of the bullies Mac hires. As a grown woman with a son who will one day be in school, this book stressed me right out. But boys (and girls) between 9-13 will love it. It's set up to be the first in a series and I already have kids in the library asking about the sequel. "
— Stephanie, 1/25/2014" The Godfather in middle school. Need I say more? Rylander weaves a funny tale with a host of unique, smart characters. "
— Tracy, 1/25/2014" This is such a good mystery book. "
— Paulette, 1/17/2014" A humorus Godfather for children. "
— Kesha, 1/16/2014" Not bad. Not the bathroom humor, boys book I thought it would be. More of an adventure, mystery, relationship boy book. Will recommend to my sixth grade boys. "
— Tweller83, 12/17/2013" IT WAS THE MOST AWESOMEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!!!! "
— Karina, 11/27/2013" Great boy read for middle school boys! "
— Kelli, 11/3/2012" Thought the voice was great, but it lost me after a while. My teen sons read it and liked it but they say that they had to "get through" a dull part in the middle. "
— Marianne, 10/11/2012" I am reading it and i think it is really good. "
— Cameron, 9/28/2012" Read my review at Let's Talk Books "
— Terrie, 7/28/2012" Some violence. . . still, it was really good! "
— Maddy, 1/6/2012" one of my favorite books. "
— Cross, 8/24/2011" I liked the book but I had a problem with the gambling issue in elementary school. Am I naive? I did like the characters and the way they interacted. I really liked Mac and his friends and their 'business' of problem solving. "
— Debbie, 6/21/2011" Thought the voice was great, but it lost me after a while. My teen sons read it and liked it but they say that they had to "get through" a dull part in the middle. "
— Marianne, 6/14/2011" The story line is fun but really not that believable. Some of the characters are a little older than they are suppose to be. "
— Brenda, 5/30/2011" I thought this book was going to be awesome when I saw the Godfather-esque cover. When I got to page 3 and read about the principal getting superglued to the toilet, I *knew* this book was going to be awesome! Extremely entertaining. "
— Jenny, 4/9/2011" Loved this book. Such a satire on the Godfather movies. "
— Heather, 4/5/2011" This book has a decent message about friendship. However, I wish that the first 150 pages went as fast as the last. I'm afraid that my 7th graders will stop reading halfway through and not get the most out of the book. "
