Plot Summary

Although it might seem like The End... is the last of the Zombie Fallout books, don't forget the ellipsis after the title which indicate that there is actually more to come. In the first two Zombie Fallout books, author Mark Tufo created a world in which something as simple as the flu vaccine led to an epidemic of zombies. In this world, there are also zombie vampires, with an entity named Eliza at the head of all those who want to destroy humanity as we know it.

Michael, the protagonist, is just a regular guy—a slightly gross beer-drinker who farts but not in front of his wife! He's your average Joe and, having been in the military, he's a bit of a survivalist. It's almost as though he's been waiting for a situation like the zombie horde to come along. He's also very devoted to his family and will do anything to keep them safe.

In book 3, Michael is recovering from the events of book 2, where he almost dies. When he comes to, he is brought up to date by their rescuers about what exactly has led to this apocalypse. Although it might seem as though Michael and his family are now safe, they suffer another attack from Eliza's minions who commit unspeakably brutal acts and have to be fought off once again. Michael's humor as well as his faith in God carry him through this ordeal.

This is a riveting series of books where the author combines humor with action and throws in a little bit of philosophical reflection just to keep you busy. The protagonist is eminently likable—someone you'd like to get to know and have a beer with. Although he doesn't think of himself as extraordinary in any way, he is a great strategist and combatant who tries to deal with things in a humorous way.

Author Mark Tufo was born in Boston, Massachusetts and got his Bachelor's from UMass Amherst. He then joined the marines and, after his tour of duty, went back to school to get his Master's with the intention of getting into Human Resources. He has written the Indian Hill trilogy, the seven Zombie Fallout books and a few spinoffs from these two series. As of September 2012, the film based on Zombie Fallout is in pre-production. Tufo lives in Maine with his wife and three kids.

"As much as I really hoped this serious would remain just some zombie hoarde epidemic, and as much as I really didn't care for the second installment... the vampire nonsense grew on me and this was a pretty good book. I really was able to visualize the scenes at the Camp Custer, just sounded awesome."

" Ok this is a good book don't get me wrong, but it's titled The End maybe you could end then. The books are a fun read but sort of tedious I hope in the 4th book they fix this with a twist. But he does a good job overall i'm a huge fan of the series but I hope there are changes in the 4th. "
