"I loved this book every bit as much as the Kommandant's Girl but for different reasons. I the first book I didn't really like Marta much, but really got to know her much better in this one and came to really like her. There were some parallels in the two books that I thought were a little too much but it was a great story and felt more complete than the Kommandant's Girl."

“Jenoff gives readers a thrilling and intense look at the beginning of the Cold War as well as a heartrending love story about two very brave people as she continues the story of the heroic resistance members from The Kommandant’s Girl."
— Booklist"[A] stirring sequel…The seesaw plot takes more than one surprise twist. Historical romance fans will be well rewarded.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)" Cute story, but not five stars. "
— Olga, 2/7/2014" a bit more melodramatic that Those Who Save us, but a good read so far. "
— Cindy, 1/30/2014" Actually 3.5. Had to take a 1/2 star off for Jenoff's implausible habit of making people appear out of nowhere. It also happened in Kommandant's Girl. It's a spoiler but you'll see what I mean. That being said, I did enjoy the book and liked the ending when everything came together. "
— Susieville, 1/17/2014" First-person present is one of my least favorite narrative voices, and Marta never really developed a unique or gripping voice to make me forget that. I made it through about 110 pages before giving up. Too bad, because the plot seemed decent. "
— Emily, 1/8/2014" This was a quick read. Took some surprising turns, but did still have some predictable pieces as well. And no, Jeanne - it did NOT make me cry. "
— Liesl, 1/7/2014" 3.5. Not bad, a little implausible at times. Gives a different perspective of the aftermath of WWII. "
— Jillybean, 12/25/2013" ANother good one by The Diplomat's Wife "
— Debbie, 12/16/2013" I read this book first. I almost didn't finish it. It is laughably far fetched. I don't know why I gave her another chance and read the Kommandant's Girl, but I am glad I did. That book is much better. "
— Megan, 12/15/2013" Another fabulous & suspenseful wartime romance by Jenoff "
— Nancydrew, 11/6/2013" Great read full of romance, suspense, adventure, mystery and a bit of a twist at the end. Though some parts are a bit unrealistic, overall a good read. "
— Meghan, 10/28/2013" Definitely an amazing book. In correlation with "The Kommadant's Girl", once again kept me busy and interested in the story. The characters are relatable in an outside-looking-in sort of way. "
— Maggie, 10/28/2013" The main character reminded me a lot of the main character of The Kommandant's Girl. Also, whoever wrote the book back flap should be fired as it told me everything of import for the entire first half of the book. "
— Nicole, 9/2/2013" A sequel to the Kommandant's Girl. I could not put this book down and can't wait to read more by Pam Jenoff! "
— Suzanne, 8/5/2013" 3.5 stars. This was a good followup to The Kommandant's Girl. "
— Lori, 8/2/2013" Bought this with a Borders gift card that a co-worker gave me. I LOVED this book. It's like a roller coaster of emotions. At one point I almost threw the book across the room when I realized what was about to happen in the book. It was exactly how I expected it to be without being too predictable. "
— Jenny, 7/9/2013" Written by a fellow Penn Law grad, Pam's books are adventurous and emotional. "
— Charys, 4/16/2013" I really enjoyed this book and its characters. "
— Dawn, 3/18/2013" Solid, good story. I enjoyed it. "
— Melissa, 7/4/2012" I found this book to be wonderful, mysterious, kept you constantly in its grips. The love story is marvelous, and makes you pine for your true love too. If you love historical fiction, specifically the WWII era definitely check out this book by Pam Jenoff. "
— Eighmey, 6/15/2012" I loved these two books. They kept my interest and I loved all the twists and turns of the plot right through the very end. Left me wanting more. "
— Sue, 2/29/2012" What a great love story. Read fast considering the amount of espionage involved. Not too difficult to follow. "
— Donna, 12/27/2011" Great author! Come see her at the Mandell JCC on February 26th! "
— Michalee, 11/30/2011" Loved it! Couldn't put it down, kind of predictable at times but the ultimate love story with a war story line. "
— Gina, 11/17/2011" As far as cheesy romance-type novels go, Pam Jenoff is a master. I loved the story, it made me think but it was also very entertaining. "
— Kristin, 7/18/2011" Very different twist in the end, did not expect it. "
— Stephanie(Tuff), 5/12/2011" Very nice story and some interesting plot twists. It was an easy read and a book you don't want to put down.

The characters were all likeable. I wish there had been more development of the relationship between Marta and Simon, but overall a good read. "
— Mary, 5/9/2011" I loved these two books. They kept my interest and I loved all the twists and turns of the plot right through the very end. Left me wanting more. "
— Sue, 3/2/2011" I was excited to read this after the Kommandant's girl. The one thing that dissappointed me about that book was the end where it was just too convenient and unbelievable. This whole book was like the end of that one... uugh. I, of course, finished it. :) "
— Jennifer, 2/24/2011" 3.5. Not bad, a little implausible at times. Gives a different perspective of the aftermath of WWII. "
— Jillybean, 2/5/2011" Fabulous! An intense read that I couldn't put down... read the entire thing in 3 nights. "
— Andi, 1/26/2011" This book was entertaining enough for me to finish, and pretty quick and easy to read, but otherwise was a waste of time. The plot was weak and predictable, the characters were extremely cliche, the twists were strange more than surprising, and the action was almost silly. "
— Joe, 12/4/2010" I really enjoyed this book. It started out as a book I would ready about WWII. Then turned into a romance book and then a spy novel! But I promise it's not corny... it's REALLY GOOD!!!! "
— Sandi, 11/22/2010" I loved this book!!! There was just the right amount of war, espionage, and love. I didn't want to put the book down until the end! "
— Padgy, 11/12/2010" Again Pam Jenoff kept us involved in the years during and after the war! Marta puts herself right in the middle of it with no regard for her own safety. Betrayal for Marta only makes her stronger and a woman to be noticed. "
— Mary, 11/5/2010" This was a interesting follow up to the Kommadant's girl, at first you wonder how this is a follow up because it focuses on Marta the girl that was shot on the bridge in order to save her friend. It does manage to fill in the most of blanks left from the previous book. "
— Jeanne, 11/5/2010" I liked the story. It just seemed a bit contrived in several places. It was interesting to read about post-World War II Europe. "
