Every tyrant who ever threatened the Kingdom is gathering to Alberon's table, and the forest is alive with spies, wolves, and bandits. Within these crowded shadows, Protector Lady Wynter Moorehawke travels alone and unprotected, determined that she shall find the rebel prince and heal the rift that has come between the King and his legitimate heir.

But who is an ally and who is a foe? In this, the second of The Moorehawke Trilogy, old friends and even older enemies ensure that Wynter is never certain of whom she can trust.

" Possibly the author I'm most excited about in recent years, Kiernan's fantasy retelling of historical Europe is incredibly well crafted. Her characters are realistically drawn and grow throughout each book. The Crowded Shadows explores medieval coming of age through the eyes of its protagonist, Wynter Moorehawke. A young girl, first experiencing deception, betrayal, inhumanity, love and passion, Wynter struggles to find her way with the help of Christopher and Razi. Fabulously drawn characters! Love this. "

" This book totally threw me in the middle of the book. It sort of went where I didn't expect it to go. It lagged a bit towards the end too and the ending left me wondering where some of the relationships are going. On the good side though I'm totally in dire need of the last book in the trilogy as i HAVE to find out how it all ends up. This is definitely one of my favorite series I've read so far this year. "

" The sequel to The Poison Throne. As equally a pile of twisted, complex and well written characters. I really love the intense atmosphere these books have. They are certainly the high fantasy of YA lit. I cannot wait for the epic finale. "

This one's has a bit more action, I think.
