One of the most powerful and triumphant stories ever told about a proud and admirable dog
The Call of the Wild, written in 1903, brought Jack London to the world's attention. It is the story of Buck, part St. Bernard and part Scotch shepherd dog, who shows the strengths of both breeds when he is stolen and sold off as a sled dog in the Yukon during the gold rush. It is a heartfelt story that appeals to both children and adults.

"London, much like Kipling, does an excellent job of imagining what must go through an animal's head as they interact with us humans. We are an odd bunch to them, and he does good in trying to look at life through a different perspective. So often we are taken into the thought process of people, and I really enjoy when we are allowed to see into an animal's perspective."

" A book I had to read school that I enjoyed. While I am not one to read about animals as the main character often, this is one I'd recommend for the people who normally do. It shows the strength of this dog/wolf (for the sake of argument I'm saying dog). It shows how he adjusts through out his life. "
— Brittany, 2/20/2014" I love this book. You root for White Fang through the entire book and can't help but be happy he finds his happiness in the end. "
— Sashalai, 2/20/2014" I have always loved Jack London's style - easy to read and very visual. Great book. One of my favorite authors. "
— Craig, 2/17/2014" I read this when I was a kid. Great story, I loved it at a time when i hated reading. However, I wonder if it will be just as good to read as an adult. Easy read "
— Jim, 2/16/2014" A really intense story. a book that won't let go off your hands. "
— Sooyong, 2/14/2014" Aptly named, since after reading it I wanted to go running with wolves in the snowy wilderness of northern Canada. Great read. "
— Bernard, 2/4/2014" Unique story about the dog leader. "
— Sarah, 2/4/2014" I loved this book when I was younger. As an animal lover (especially dogs!) I love when animals are the main characters of the story. Jack London did a great job of going into the mind of Buck and his transition from a housepet to a strong, rough, brave wild dog. "
— Hannah, 2/3/2014" It was constanley suspensful. You need to read this book about what a dog would do for "the love of a man". "
— Christopherwilliams, 2/2/2014" Hate to admit it. I like this book way more teaching it year two. "
— Jacob, 2/1/2014" One of London's all-time great books! "
