"I remember reading Witch of Blackbird Pond as a child and Sign of the Beaver as a teacher so I was interested in reading another one of Speare's books. This one was another well written historical fiction for young adults. I liked how she integrated the history of Jesus and the rebels and the Romans with the personal story of the young boy. I liked how the book ended with the intertwining of the boy's life and Jesus' life. I wasn't too excited about the quotes from Jesus, it felt a little too book of Thomas."

" This tale is set in the time of Christ and relates an unsuccessful revolt against the Romans. Speare always provides vigorous historical fiction for the late pre-teen group. "

" This book was excellent. While I don't think I could use this in school I do think that I would recommend this to my friends. It helped me to understand the Jews at the time of Christ so much better than I ever have before. I don't think I need any clues to remember this book because it had such an affect on me. "

" Loved this book. It was difficult to put down. Historical fiction which takes place during the time of Jesus. Helped me imagine how the Jews must have felt about the Romans and to think more about the Savior and his teachings. "

" This was the Newbery Medal book for 1962. It's about an angry young Galilean boy who has sworn revenge on the Romans for the death of his father and mother. He learns through the teachings of Jesus to love rather than hate. There were some very touching scenes in the story, and it has a good message. "

" Winning the Newbery Medal for this book proves that Elizabeth George Speare was a meticulous historical fiction writer. The portrayal of the subjection of the Jewish nation to Rome is described to the point of feeling like you are there. The Bronze Bow is one of my favorite books in my collection. "
