"What a fun book! This was full of surprising twists and turns and a little bit of humor too. I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down because every chapter ended in a bit of a cliff hanger or something unexpected. I have a hard enough time putting down books that aren't half as fun as this one."

" Pretty Good!! I enjoyed the book, a quick read but a pretty good story. I read it in two nights "
— Jordan, 2/18/2014" Oh my goodness! So good! If I was expecting a disappointment, I didn't get it! So many twists&turns! Absolutely loved it. "
— Kathryn, 2/13/2014" Loved the story. Strong writing, inviting characters. Alas, probably has zero appeal for boys. Girls will love it. The invented pseudo-medieval world is especially well created. "
— Jo, 2/13/2014" I read this book in one night and loved it! Then I gave it to my friends 13 year old daughter and she read it in one night and loved it too....how many books can you say that about? A 40-something mom and a 13 year old teen loving the same book? Must be good! "
— Cindy, 2/9/2014" I enjoyed this read. I thought I had the plot figured out and was surprised in the end. "
— Billie, 1/24/2014" A perfect fairytale! A wonderful and strong heroine and a handsome kind hearted hero. Just enough romance in a great adventure story. I will read anything Julie Berry writes:) "
— Roner, 1/16/2014" Straight fluff fairytale you can read in about two hours. No deep thoughts here, shallow/superficial characterization, everything happens ASAP. Good for a little pick-me-up if you need it. "
— Alex, 1/6/2014" I liked it. It's an interesting fantasy read. Not quite as developed as some of my other favorite books but I still enjoyed reading it. "
— Wendy, 12/22/2013" A sort of Cinderella remake with a bit of a science fiction twist. A little odd to me, but overall I liked it. The main character goes through a lot of tough times and it would have been nice to see more development between her and her love interest especially during the ending, but that's just me. "
— MiriLou, 12/15/2013" This was exactly my kind of book: fairytale, romance, magic. I just was not satisfied with the ending. With a different ending it could have been a 5 star book to me. "
— Jessie, 12/6/2013" Not especially memorable. "
— Gretchen, 11/29/2013" I really loved this book. It was full of the whole fairy tale scheme, which I am terriably addicted to. I wish Berry did the ending a little better, but besides that, perfect! I sure hope tere is a sequel! "
— Audrey, 11/28/2013" This is one of the best books ever written. "
— ♣Bel♣, 10/22/2013" fun, quick read........ "
— Stacey, 10/12/2013" This was a good book that tells the story of love and magic. It was quite a bit different from what I normally would read, but it was still good. :) "
— Marisa, 10/8/2013" A fairly good fantasy book. It's light hearted and has elements of other well liked fantasy books. I'd recommend it to girls who especially liked Ella Enchanted. "
— Rachael, 9/18/2013" "Cinderella" retelling of sorts. Painfully lame. I don't think I would have wanted to finish it as a young adult either. I have to add that I was listening to this on audio, so that may have added an element to the dislike factor. "
— Natalie, 7/20/2013" This was a fun light hearted book. Many witty lines. A little predictable ending but still a fun fantasy princess tale.. "
— Katies, 6/17/2013" Very sweet retelling of a fairytale. It was a clean and fun read. I really enjoyed it. "
— Ellen, 11/2/2012" The book had promise in the start but the more it progressed it became increasingly incoherent. "
— at, 3/5/2012" I got half way through this book but then had to force myself to stop. I am trying to save books for the summer so I don't get bored. It was hard to put this one down. "
— Madeleine, 1/10/2012" Overall a pretty good book. Definitely a quick read and would probably read again sometime. If you like Beauty by Robin McKinley or Ella Enchanted you should read it "
— Tricia, 11/16/2011" Awesome book and the author is really nice- I got to meet her! In this story- my favorite character was Peter. But- to be honest- I really didn't the ending. I felt like it ended too suddenly. Secondhand charm is a better story- but I like the characters in this book better. "
— Lucy, 9/27/2011" very well written. liked it a lot. "
— Maddie, 6/9/2011" This book was an enjoyably fast and light paced read! It kept you guessing till the very end. And even though I was rooting for Peter, I liked how things turned out between Lucinda and George! :)) "
— Kris-10, 5/14/2011" I loved this book. It was really drawing. "
— Amber, 4/18/2011" Fair book for middle school or junior high age girls.

****Spoiler****
I was quite disappointed that a thief is what was considered the best person to run the kingdom. What does that teach our children? "
— Sara, 4/17/2011" it had promise but than it went a weird way and i didn't like the ending she so should of ended up with Peter who she had experiences with and not the not anymore prince who we feel like we barley knew. Moreover what in the world was this about? I still feel like i have questions. "
— Mackenzie, 4/13/2011" Definitely worth reading if you're a 10-12 year old girl. Worth reading if you're a grownup traveling or with time to kill. Nice, but not a gem. "
— Daftwullie, 4/10/2011" Really cute story with its fairytale twists, mainly for teenagers of middle school years. Took me a little under 3hrs to read. Would have been 5 far star book for me had it not been for the predictable and what seemed to be rushed ending. "
— Ana, 4/7/2011" World building is again an issue here. A medieval setting, complete with Catholic Church, and a fantasy element thrown in -- in this case, a being from another world, without any particular world building associated with her, as far as I can tel. "
