    " A really good detective story! "

" Bit of a cheat adding this when I've got the full book still to read, but it's nice to keep track. Partly read outside school, partly on the bus. When I get through these Children's 60s I'm going to need a new supply of tiny books... It was very good, of course! "

" Book had great suspense and captures you from the start. Doyle surely knows how to have the audience in the palm of your hand and wondering how to solve the mystery. He gives amazing figurative language and excellent details. When reading his books there is nevera dull moment. "

" Sinister dealings and Holmes in action! The Speckled Band gets Sherlock Holmes out of his Baker Street residence for a night and shows that he's quick in more ways than one. This may have been the very first Holmes story I ever read if I'm remembering correctly and it was a joy to read again! "

" So far, one of my favorites :) I think the key to the stories I seem to enjoy more is the length... I think Holmes benefits from a few extra pages... More details to be had :) "

" It wasn't as good as I expected. Some of the stories were good, but nothing extraordinary. The most annoying part of the short stories were the circumlocutions, and the overmistificated status and case-solved skilles of Sherlock Holmes. "

  • 5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Catherine Mustread | 1/3/2013

" Great reminder of the joy of reading Arthur Conan Doyle and "seeing" Sherlock Holmes solve a mysterious case involving, gypsies, murder, love and marriage. "

" I enjoyed this book concerning Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson coming to the aid of a young girl, who is in fear for her life. Her sister has died for no reason, and she fears she is next. This was one of my favorite stories, and made it to his TV series. A very good read for all of Mr. Holmes fans. "

" An excellent story. In this story, you'll find both action and mystery. Several of the Holmes-stories are quite easy to figure out early on, not so here. I got involved with the characters, and had to really think to figure it out. "
