"Even if you don't plan on going to Australia this is a thoroughly clever read, lots of fun and full of things you didn't know - and admittedly might never have thought to ask - about Australia. I love the way Bryson travels, often seeking out the most obscure places, for even more obscure reasons and making them seem much more significant than they might otherwise be."

" I had heard a lot of good things about this author and this book doesn't disappoint! A humourous recollection of his travels in Australia... almost makes me want to go back there someday! "

" I give most Bryson books 3 stars but I consistently enjoyed them. I just don't rate them higher because there are so many other books that deserve 4 or 5 stars that I would recommend to everyone. This book taught me a lot about Australia in a way that was fun to read. Great night time book (my favorite catetory of book!) "

" Very amusing book. Bryson tells us of his trips and fills us in with historical notes along the way. He liked most of the country and it was fun to hear his take on many places I had been myself. "

" Overall, I liked the book. At times it was very funny and at times it was boring. I was listening to the audio version read by the author. He has a very relaxing voice, which made it hard to stay awake on my way to work. However, I did appreciate his humor and learned a lot about Australia, which made it worthwhile. "

" Laugh out loud funny. I finished reading it on my flight to Australia several years ago. I was laughing out loud. Other people on the plane were also reading and laughing. Good information about Australia and hilarious. Bill Bryson is from my home town, Des Moines, Iowa. "

" Fantastic, as Bryson always is. Now I want to visit Australia even more! And I've developed a slight dislike for bunnies and those people who import invasive species. Who knew a dozen rabbits could destroy state-sized chunks of land?!? "

" I didn't think Bryson could top his "A Walk in the Woods." Wrong. This is a funny, informative and affectionate account of his exploration of a fascinating, seemingly under-appreciated country that "has more things that will kill you than anywhere else." Fantastic. "
