After finding her true love in the senior basketball star Reese McKenzie, 16-year-old Karin Blanch attends summer school for some extra credits at Elmwood High in Crescent Heights, California. While Reese prepares to go to college in LA, Karin continues her strong friendship with next-door neighbor Lesley Rochester, makes new friends, and has to deal with summer heartbreak.
