Sticks and stones may break my bones—or they might actually kill me.
What does a woman do when she discovers her husband is an incurable cheater? If she’s Cat DeLuca, she launches the Pants on Fire Detective Agency. Now Cat does what two years of unholy matrimony taught her to do: she catches cheaters. When a client, Cleo Jones, shoots her cheating husband’s bum full of buckshot, he disappears, taking her money, dog, and sister with him. Private Investigator Cat DeLuca promises to retrieve the dog and money if her client stops shooting at Walter. Cleo agrees. The detective finds the dog and a mysterious bag full of cash. And then she finds Walter. His very dead body is still warm.
The case is a slam dunk for the cops who arrest Cleo for the killing. She had motive and opportunity, and a dozen witnesses heard her scream bloody murder. One even made a video.
Cat DeLuca is determined to prove her client’s innocence, and it’s not an easy job. Walter was an unsavory character. Over the years he had acquired numerous enemies. Now, Cat will have to sift through all the ones who didn’t pull the trigger. Her investigation leads to four players with secrets: a childhood friend, a gambler, a construction tycoon, and a legendary Chicago designer.
When forensic evidence suggests the detective knows more about the murder than she’s telling, Cat faces the certain loss of her agency.
Cat DeLuca is smart and charming, but she’s an unlikely heroine, and her partner, a beagle named Inga, is quite likely to eat the evidence. Sticks and Stones delivers steamy romance, intrigue, and laugh-out-loud humor for a wickedly delicious read.

"I can't say enough about Cat DeLuca, she is funny, and smart and quick on the take. She finds herself fighting to free her assistant Cleo who is up on murder charges for offing her sleazy ex-husband. There are too many people who want him dead but only one who did it. Meanwhile Cat is also trying to catch a slippery cheating husband with his pants down. I love this series reminds me so much of Stephanie Plum. I can't wait to see what Cat is up to next!"

“Janet Evanovich fans will relate to the humor and crazy characters, but under the fun is a well-crafted plot with all the elements of a classic whodunit.”
— Publishers Weekly" OMG!!!! This was soooo good! There's a lot going on. Cat has goofy, crazy circumstances pretty much 24/7. I love the colorful characters and the places they lead her. This will keep your attention and keep you smiling with sudden outburst of giggles and out-and-out belly laughs! "
— Sue, 2/1/2014" pale imitation of evanovich/plum series. many, many proofreading errors--missing words, misspelled words, wrong words--made for a distracting read "
— Jane, 1/13/2014" Although K.J. Larsons sense of humor is still present, the plot is too convaluted in the second book of her Cat DeLuca series. A quick, easy read and a series with potential. "
— Mary, 12/29/2013" this book is just a quick fun (chick-lit) read. but it's just as fun as 'liar liar' (the first book). "
— Kirsten, 12/28/2013" Quick read that I enjoyed. Although it was not as funny as the first one, there were some great moments in the book. The mystery was more intricate and I really needed Cat to kick Gregor's butt. Maybe in the next book. "
— Cheryl, 11/22/2013" Really 3.5. Good book. The story was a little simplistic, but I liked the lead. "
— Leigh, 11/21/2013" Fun, quirky characters, refreshing woman pi who is not an incompetent idiot. Will read more in this series "
— Marge, 6/15/2013" Mindless beach read, but written smoothly. Action scenes are fast-paced and comic. Neat that three sisters wrote this seamless work. "
— Patricia, 4/1/2013" This second in the Kat DeLuca series was better than the first. Less of a Stephanie Plum knock-off. But still not great. "
— Christi, 4/1/2013" Another quirky installment of the Cat DeLucka series. I think this series is as funny as Evanovich's Stephanie Plum or Casuey's Bobbye Faye series. A winner!! "
— Leslie, 10/28/2012" This second Cat DeLuca mystery is perhaps even funnier than the first - and that's saying something. "
— bup, 10/24/2012" Fun summer mystery that is lighthearted. "
— Ruth, 8/23/2012" The problem with a book this funny is when you start laughing so hard you have a coughing fit... in the middle of the night... you wake up the baby, lol. "
— Britt,, 7/15/2012" Thrilling mystery that will knock your socks off. "
— Christen, 5/8/2012" Amusing story of a female PI whose specialty is catching cheating husbands - a job that leads to murder in this case "
— Mary, 4/21/2012" You gotta love this woman's family. Big, loud, protective and hilarious. "
— Mary, 4/13/2012" I like the Cat DeLuca mysteries. Good job! "
— Jasmine, 4/4/2012" Cute! Airy! Flippant! A nice relief from heavier reads! "
