Publisher Description

While searching for the U.S.S. Huxley, a starship missing for over 10 years, the Enterprise stumbles over a forgotten colony of humans on a planet called Rampart - a world where fiction, speculation, and works of the imagination are considered the ultimate crime. A survey team from the planet beams on board the Enterprise to search for contraband materials - and suddenly the crew find themselves plunged into the middle of a murderous civil war between a determined band of rebels and the planet's ruthless mind police. A civil war whose outcome will determine not only the future of the planet, but the life of Captain Jean-Luc Picard as well.

" While searching for a long-lost starship, the crew of the Enterprise encounters an isolated colony where all imagination is outlawed on pain of having one's memories erased and replaced. "

" While this book didn't have me hanging on the edge of my seat, it was a good read. Some of the subplots seem like they were added to fill the gaps, but overall the story is interesting and I wish the author had spent more time with the 'Dissenter' characters. "

" An intriguing premise. A worls has banned all fiction and imagination. The Enterprise has too much fiction in it, so they need to be purged. A bit like Farenheit 451 but with the TNG team. "
