Waverly, Kieran and Seth are in a race against time – and with the future of humanity hanging in the balance, there's no room for mistakes… After a desperate escape from the enemy ship, Waverly has finally made it back to the Empyrean. The memory of home has been keeping her alive for the past months… but home is nothing like she left it. Forced to leave their captive parents behind on the New Horizon, she's returned only to find that Kieran has become a strict leader and turned the crew against Seth. What happened to the Kieran she thought she knew? Now Waverly's not sure whom she can trust. And the one person she wants to believe in is darkly brilliant Seth, the ship's supposed enemy. Waverly knows that the situation will only get worse until they can rescue their parents – but how? Before they have time to make a plan, an explosion rocks the Empyrean, and Seth and Waverly are targeted as the prime suspects. Can they find the true culprit before Kieran locks them away… or worse? Will Waverly follow her heart, even if it puts lives at risk? Now more than ever, every step could bring them closer to a new beginning – or a sudden end.

"I loved this book! When i read glow i was not sure if Seth was the good guy or the bad guy, but something about him made me secretly like him, and now that i have read Spark I LOVE HIM! but the thing i really like about this book is that it is not all about the romance, i love Waverly everything about seems true, this is how i real person would feel at a time like that. The only thing i was not to happy about was the ending, it totally left me hanging and now i need to wait till 2014 to now what happens! ugh! At the end of the book Waverly said she would never forgive Seth if he gets himself killed, well (even though i love her books) i will never forgive Amy Kathleen Ryan if she kills him off, but then again i will never know till 2014!"

“Fans will surely stick with this second chapter of the EMPYREAN's voyage.
— AudioFile MagazineIlyana Kadushin and Matthew Brown both bring depth to their characters, narrating the tough decisions that Waverly and Kieran must make as they attempt to lead their ship to safety…Fans of the first audiobook will clamor for this sequel.
— School Library Journal" A fast-paced mystery set in a sci-fi world, Spark was a quick read that explored the effects of power and the desire for revenge. I loved Seth's character development, though Waverly and Kieran? Not so much (I don't mean that Ryan did a poor job of developing their characters, but that I'm not a big fan of the decisions they're making). "
— Sarena, 2/3/2014" I just finished, and again, I closed the book saying, "Seriously?! How will I wait till the next one??" Excellent read. "
— Megan, 12/22/2013" Really 4.5'ish. I believe I may have liked this better than book one...maybe. The only thing that kept me from a solid 4.5 or 5 was the time line issue associated with the ships meeting up. If you've read it, you know what I'm talking about. "
— Tracy, 12/22/2013" I'm so amazed by the darkness of these books for being young adult and for the depth of the characters. "
— Ally, 10/29/2013" It's a good story line without any likable characters. "
— Amber, 7/31/2013" Pretty good book, action-packed, twists and turns, page-turning, can't wait for the 3rd one - a longer wait than I'd like. I'll be reading more, for sure...I do hope it's a trilogy though and not longer. "
— Jenny, 4/19/2013" seriously love seth and hate kieron . cannot wait till NEXT SUMMER for this next book "
— Kimberly, 4/2/2013" This one actually better than the first....looking forward to reading the next installment. "
