"Snowflake Bentley is about a man who finds he has an interest in snowflakes. When Bentley was given a camera, it changed his world. He was able to take a picture of the snowflakes that way he could show the world and the flakes wouldn't melt away too fast. Bentley comes up with the conclusion that no two snowflakes are the same. The illustrations in this book are outstanding. Seeing the snowflakes made me become more interested and after I put the book down I wanted to go and research more about Snowflake Bentley and snowflakes in general. This is another book that I would like to use in my classroom. From the text, there are many discussions that could follow so I would like to use this book as a read aloud in my classroom. It will be perfect."

" From the time he was a small boy, Wilson Bentley saw snowflakes as small miracles. And he determined that one day his camera would capture for others the wonder of the tiny crystal. Bentley's enthusiasm for photographing snowflakes was often misunderstood in his time, but his patience and determination revealed two important truths: no two snowflakes are alike; and each one is startlingly beautiful. " Snowflake Bentley is a children's book about WIlson Bentley, the first known photographer of snowflakes. In 299, it won the Caldecott award for its beautifully detailed illustrations. This book tells the story of the young farm boy and his love and fascination for the snow. It is a unique children's story being historically accurate. "

" This is a cute story of a boy who loves snowflakes. This is a good lesson for kids in showing them that if that want something bad enough and stick with it there is no limit on the things you can do. The pictures in this books as well as the picture of the actual snowflakes he took are amazing. "

" A non-fiction account of the life of William Bentley. Bentley is an interesting man who spends his lifetime taking wonderful pictures and trying to snap a just right picture of a snowflake. This book would be great for discussing perseverance. "

" Great true story about a man who saw art in nature. It's not the best book for reading aloud to children, but still a fascinating story with amazing wood cut illustrations. "

" This is the rather dry, slightly depressing story of a man who took photographs of snowflakes. It got the Caldecott Medal, though, so I guess I don't know nuthin'! "

" This book was a delight! Learning how the fragile beauty of snowflakes were captured in the early days of photography was fascinating. I would recommend a visit to the website from the museum in Jericho to view the photos taken by Mr. Bentley. "
