"It took me a little while to get into this book, I got distracted by another book after the first chapter but then came back to it. It takes a while to warm up to Sylvie, a bit of adjustment to get over her feeling sorry for herself, going to exclude all her friends from being involved. But it quickly leaps into adventure that just keeps speeding on. I ended up having a nightowl session to finish this book, well worth the patience at the start."

" There's a lot of back story in this book. I'm really not sure if it's a spin off of a different book or if this is book 2. :( It's an exciting read but I'm on the fence with the series. :( I don't know what it is. I will still read it and maybe do more research to find out if there is a prequel to this book. :) The author is a pseudonym... so the prequel might be in those book. Don't know. Hopefully, someone will clarify this for me. :) "
— Karyogini, 2/14/2014" Paranormal mystery- no vamps or weres- instead a world of magic and Gods roaming the earth. Sylvie (who operates Shadows agency) is ready to quit when the new god of Justice hires her to find his kidnapped lover. Sylvie is somewhat unpredictable and ornery, but ready to take on any person or creature that gets in her way. The book was interesting, but the ending was a bit troubling for me. "
— Tasula, 2/10/2014" I love finding fun new authors. "
— Joe, 11/28/2013" Sylvie is a bitch, which isn't generally a bad thing but she never let up, treating everyone like they were disposable despite the fact she 'loved' them. The story itself was interesting but not intersting enough to make me put up with Sylvie again. "
— Nicolette, 11/27/2013" A nice change from the vampire/werewolf books I've been reading, instead we've got Greek gods and a Christian villain fighting it out, with a little help from a mortal. I'm looking forward to more of this series. "
— Shaunesay, 11/20/2013" ok I guess, Kind of confused "
— Ming, 9/26/2013" I thought the synopsis of the book sounded interesting, but I found it to be a slow read and I just had a hard time sticking with it. "
— Sillylittlefishey, 9/11/2013" A bit dry, no romance and a bitching heroine, who fails to protect innocents. "
— Zafia, 3/16/2013" Personally i thought that this book was a slow starting book but once i got hooked i got hooked it is a really good book. "
— Allie, 5/1/2012" somewhat predictable, lots of commentary about prior happenings, but little explanation. "
— Sylene, 9/5/2011" I wasn't crazy about this first book in the series. I felt the whole time like it couldn't be the first book. There were a lot of world-building details I just kept missing, like there must have been a previous book. But books 2 and 3 in the series smoothed out, and I liked them a lot. "
— Amy, 8/13/2011" This book started slow for me but got better towards the end. I'll see where it goes when the next part come out. "
— Maghon, 5/25/2011" I actually couldn't finish this, not because it was poorly written but because it was too dark for me at the time. "
— E_bookpushers, 5/10/2011" ok I guess, Kind of confused "

— Allie, 9/13/2010" somewhat predictable, lots of commentary about prior happenings, but little explanation. "
— Sylene, 8/13/2010" I enjoyed this book, though I'll admit upfront that I'm sure my opinion was influenced by the fact that the God of Justice's lover is male. I think that's very cool.

The story dragged in parts, but the ending was very exciting and I think it set up the next book very well. "
— Schnaucl, 1/2/2010" Sylvie is a bitch, which isn't generally a bad thing but she never let up, treating everyone like they were disposable despite the fact she 'loved' them. The story itself was interesting but not intersting enough to make me put up with Sylvie again. "
