Publisher Description

When 16-year-old loser Scott Tyler meets the beautiful and mysterious Aubrey Jones, he learns he's not so average after all. He's a Shifter. And that means he has the power to undo any decision he's ever made. At first, he thinks the power to shift is pretty cool. But as his world starts to unravel around him, he realises that each time he uses his power, it has consequences - terrible, unforeseen consequences. Shifting is going to get him killed.

In a world where everything can change with a thought, Scott has to decide where he stands...

"This is a book which fans of Department 19 are going to like a lot. Not that it has any vampires, I hasten to add. But it has a very similar feel to Will Hill's tales of a young man drafted into a shadowy organisation, not least because both have a strong sense of place in contemporary England. The central idea, that some young people have the ability to change past decisions and re-shape reality, is very clever, and there are some genius touches, like the fact that the power to Shift doesn't last beyond one's teens: just brilliant in a YA setting, naturally empowering the young protagonists and thrusting great responsibility onto them at the same time. I couldn't help thinking, while reading the excellent descriptions of the physical effects of Shifting, that it would make an amazing movie! The story moves along with the right amount of action, evil villains, and gruesome plots, and there is a sufficient self-deprecation in the first-person narration to enable reader sympathy with the protagonist. Very nicely judged, and an enjoyable read."

" This book has a great concept, nice details that makes me like I'm living in the story. It has a smooth flow to it as well since I finished this book in no time at all. However, the last third of the book feels rushed, it seems to take the easy way out, and it leaves an unsatisfying end, but its a conclusion nevertheless. The main character is likeable and very relatable, which makes the story even better and not as outlandish. It feels as if the story isn't finished. I do hope this isn't a oneshot novel. "

" This book was great! I loved all the characters and the plot was great. I especially liked Benjo, the fat guy, but he was scary! It was one of those books that you can't put down! "
