With nothing but the clothes on his back—and something horrific snapping at his heels—Jack Winter fled his rural Georgia home when he was still just a boy. Watching the world he knew vanish in a trucker’s rearview mirror, he thought he was leaving an unspeakable nightmare behind forever. But years later, the bright new future he’s built suddenly turns pitch black, as something fiendishly familiar looms dead ahead.
When Jack, his wife Aimee, and their two small children survive a violent car crash, it seems like a miracle. But Jack knows what he saw on the road that night, and it wasn’t divine intervention. The profound evil from his past won’t let them die…at least not quickly. It’s back, and it’s hungry; ready to make Jack pay for running, to work its malignant magic on his angelic youngest daughter, and to whisper a chilling promise: I’ve always been here, and I’ll never leave.
Country comfort is no match for spine-tingling Southern gothic suspense in Ania Ahlborn’s tale of an ordinary man with a demon on his back. Seed plants its page-turning terror deep in your soul, and lets it grow wild.

"I really must agree with all the positive reviews, captivating and mysterious, you think you have it all figured out, but then,do you really? The endiing is one I will wager few guessed correctly . Hope you enjoy this fantastic old fahioned horror/ psychodrama."

" I would have liked this book more if the author hadn't used that old sexist trope of the controlling fun-killing shrewish wife. There was really no need for it. It served no purpose. What really soured me was one scene where the wife bemoaned the fact that she had to chew out the school principal and yelled that Jack should have done it because he's the man. UGH. I also could not understand why Jack couldn't tell his wife about the devil/demon. Apparently, the devil wouldn't let him but it wasn't very convincing. Overall I am disappointed and annoyed. "
— Kim, 2/13/2014" I liked this book! It was creepy and interesting and you know a book is well described when you start believing the charaters are real! I felt for them and the end was cruel and unusual punishment since so much effort went into creating the charachters "
— Rochelle, 2/6/2014" Started well...ended dismally. Overblown and ultimately silly. "
— Alice-Anne, 1/20/2014" Excellent first effort. It started a little slow, but really picked up about 25% in. I will look forward to reading more from this author. "
— Kevin, 1/16/2014" Not a terrible book but not really great either. The story itself was very spooky and I felt the ending was perfect. But the parents fell flat for me. Their motivations and actions didn't seem to make sense to me within the context of the story. "
— Haley, 1/9/2014" A spooky demon story perfect for the Halloween season. Something about children in horror movies/books always creeps me out so learning about 6 year old Charlie and her dad's past was quite the journey. I don't want to give away too much though. "
— Sheena, 11/30/2013" Creepy. A good, dark one. "
— Dory, 10/31/2013" Somewhat scary, but a bit depressing "
— Hope, 10/23/2013" surprisingly good. a quick, cheap (kindle price) thrill. "
— Whitney, 10/22/2013" I enjoyed reading this book despite the fact that horror is not my favorite genre. There was a good line of suspense that kept me reading intently until I got to the end. "
— Ammy, 9/25/2013" This book literally sent chills up my spine. It's been a long time since that has happened. Creepy stuff. Classic ending. I loved it! "
— Debra, 7/6/2013" Wow what a read!!! I really loved this one! Gave me chills in places and kept me turning the pages all the way to the end! Can't wait to read more of Ania's work! "
— Erik, 5/18/2013" I really enjoy reading it. "
— Karen, 3/12/2013" The gentle family relationships of this book's characters belies the underlying horror. What a great juxtaposition. I rate this story as a classic in the class of Poe and King. "
— Norman, 2/8/2013" Completely freaked me out. The writing was really good, but I can't say that I liked it (but only because I don't like freaked out endings!! "
— Jeannie, 1/16/2013" I really enjoyed this book. By turns it scared me, frustrated me, and saddened me. I hope there will be a sequel, as it absolutely cries out for one! "
