"I noticed a pattern while reading these books in the Last Man Standing series: slow moving in the beginning then it picks up speed about halfway through and by the time I'm done I'm so delighted I can't wait to read the next one. In Book 3, there was more anticipation for excitement what with the characters playing cat and mouse with THEIR characters. I'm enjoying this series and know that I will be disappointed when the last book is read...."

“Alexander knows what her romance readers want—charming characters, sharp banter, missed connections and a happy ending—and delivers with gusto.”
— Publishers Weekly" While I loathe books whose whole plot is based on both characters keeping a stupid secret from each other that keeps them away from each other, this was really the best version of that plot I've ever read. And it was cute. I probably won't read any more Victoria Alexander - all her books have ranked a solid "meh" on my scale - but of her books I've read, this was definitely the best. "
— Sara, 2/8/2014" It was exactly what I was looking for - mindless fluff. The storyline was a bit predictable, and the characters a bit cliche. But after having read several books in a row of a serious or dark tone, the light heartedness of this book was enjoyable. "
— Kristina, 2/2/2014" I really enjoy Victoria's stories and this was one of my favorites. "
— Paisley, 1/12/2014" 4.5 Stars. My second Victoria Alexander book. I really enjoyed this one. Her trademark lively dialogue was laugh-out-loud funny in many places. A very cute story of mistaken identifies. The secondary characters really added to the story. Nice book! "
— Kellianne, 12/15/2013" Cute story. Very funny and witty. "
— Danette, 11/14/2013" Romance novel. Pretty good. "
— Erin, 10/24/2013" Zoned out reading the excerpt. Correction I zoned out EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried (3 or 4 times I tried) to read the excerpt. Boring. "
— Marianna, 8/29/2013" Delightful and enjoyed it thoroughly the first 2/3rds. Then it seemed like the same ideas were recycling and I scanned for the remainder of the story. "
— JoAnn, 7/29/2013" Just needed to take a break with a historical romance. Cute but nothing special. "
— JJ, 7/4/2013" Not a book I would normally choose but this was actually a great little story. A lot of twists and turns between some very good characters. "
— Bill, 3/7/2013" More like 1 -1/2 stars as it threatened to be a DNF for me a couple of times. Cordelia was self-centred and manipuative yet still likeable, but Daniel came across as a bit of an ass. Not Ms Alexander's best - more like flat lemonade than her usual frothy, sparkling champagne. "
— Fairyposs, 12/28/2012" awesome! i've been lookin foward to Daniel stories since beginning this series!! the irony in this story was soooooo thick but it only added to the hilariousness to the story and the end result. loved it! "
— Haylie, 11/18/2012" Lady must marry an American, swaps role with her friend to learn about him "
— Dianne, 10/28/2012" Its okay so far. I kinda have the feeling that I have read this book, or 10 books exactly like this one before. I am looking for really good historical romance novels, but I have not found a good one in a long while... "
— Danita, 8/8/2012" Another good read by V. Alexander. Cute twists about the couple and their not wanting to meet. Got a chuckle when they were trying to explain themselves to their friends once the gig was up. I purchased this book so I can share with my friends. "
— Kathy, 7/7/2012" The way the two main characters keep digging themselves holes with their deception becomes quite amusing. The ending was a bit rushed for my personal satisfaction, but it was tolerable. I like the amusing repartee between the characters. "
— Dancer, 6/17/2012" A romance book. "
— Shelly, 1/30/2012" The story was floating, it has a weak foundation. The protagonists were coward and irritating. "
— Katherine, 1/19/2012" This one gets my vote for the best argument during a wedding scene. All in all fun. "
— Gloriavirtutisumbra, 11/10/2011" Cordelia and Daniel are in an arranged marriage, but have a case of mistaken identity - each thinks the other is someone else. Conveniently everything falls into place. Nice, easy read if you don't think about all the issues with the plot. "
— Jennifer, 9/10/2011" it was okay. i didn't approval of them sneaking around to finding about each other, only for them to find out that each of them were lying to each other. "
— Brianna, 4/15/2011" Not a book I would normally choose but this was actually a great little story. A lot of twists and turns between some very good characters. "
— Samantha, 8/15/2010" Hmm...Iv read other books by this author, but when I started this book I was confused as to who wrote it. I was certain it was written by Loretta Chase...lol I guess the characters and plots were so simular that I lost track. Hmmm....not good for either author... "
— Kindaangelic, 8/10/2010" This was on a clearance rack, so I thought why not? It was actually good. Simple, but different than many I have read lately, sweet, funny, and romantic. I really liked it for a change of pace (although it looks like it was the third in a series). "
— Steph, 7/28/2010" Cute story. Very funny and witty. "
— Danette, 12/26/2009" Delightful and enjoyed it thoroughly the first 2/3rds. Then it seemed like the same ideas were recycling and I scanned for the remainder of the story. "
— Joann, 7/25/2009" awesome! i've been lookin foward to Daniel stories since beginning this series!! the irony in this story was soooooo thick but it only added to the hilariousness to the story and the end result. loved it! "
— Haylie, 7/20/2009" I enjoyed reading this story a lot! I found the little scheme the two main characters were apart of quite... ammusing. If only all lies turned out to so well for both parties in real life. "
— Chasidy, 4/8/2009" Just needed to take a break with a historical romance. Cute but nothing special. "
